Riya.

his inner mind maybe always knew this, but now witnessing the reality, it was shocking beyond words. the memories of their last encounter, her consuming that bacteria , her dead body in hospital flashed in front of his eyes. how?

riya looked at his eyes, with a mixture of guilt and happiness in eyes. she has always waited for the day she will come in front of her team, and always imagined what will be their reaction after seeing her alive. but now witnessing her boss's state gave her little hint that it wont be so easier. she will face many questions, and maybe possible reactions that she is a ghost or spirit. she smiled inwardly at the thought, but she owe it all to them. they are her family as much as her own family.

arjun took small steps to her, not believing heis eyes. then shocking riya beyond anything, he nearly run towards her and hugged her tight. she was first startled at this, but then smiled her famous dimpled smile, and hugged him back.

it was good to be back.

some hours later, night @ 2 pm, @ sameer's house.

the whole team was in ETF chief's house, including DIG dustin coelho and riya. after passing the initial shocking reactions, they all are now sitting on the sofas, with coffee in their palms, waiting for answers from both riya and DIG sir.

after breaking that hug back there, arjun bombard riya with questions, like where she was , how is she, is she hurt, how did she survive, why she had not contact them and many thing. he continued to shook her with each questions, raising the voice after every question and soon he was yelling at her on his top pitch. she was not getting any chance to answer, and to make the matter worse, the whole team, chotu, shree and aisha entered.

aisha was shocked at the girl. she had always seen her in the photographs, and the videos shree kept in his laptop. she had never thought she will be able to met her by person, as she knew riya was dead. but this...made her absolutely speechless.

shree was worst of all. he nearly expired seeing her, leaned on aisha and chotu for support. then he managed to whisper her name, and when she replied back, he slumped on the floor with shock. riya was so scared for him, but then shree yelled in happiness and hugged her tight, causing pain in her ribs.

and chotu's reaction shocked everyone more than anything. of course all expected similar reaction from him, but he simply smiled at her, and hugged her, like he was meeting her after a short period of time. the normalcy in his behavior created suspicion in others. seems like he had also to answer others about this.

when the team reached sameer's house, they all expected similar reactions from him. and he didnt disappoint them...sameer leaned on the door for support after seeing riya, and stared at her with so much force that it made her want to hide somewhere. actually, tonight she was the centre of attraction...everyone was staring at her, like she is going to vanish again and they are all making themselves believe she is really here, its not a dream, or she is not a ghost or spirit.

all stared at the DIG, and he took a deep breath, and started , ''i approached riya after i met her in my office. you remember sameer when you were thinking her to send back to research desk?''

sameer nodded, and said to himself, ''the thinking was from someone else's '' and stared at arjun, who was so busy to look at riya that he didnt even realize.

DIG started again, ''she was having trouble for shooting, and i thought if a elderly talk can help. but after seeing her, i was speechless.''

Everyone looked at each other with questions. DIG answered them , ''she looked so much alike like sikandar's first wife.''

everyone stared back at riya with open mouth, and she looked away to avoid this audience. she was not used to this attention, and now this was making her uncomfortable.

''i quickly thought of a plan to send her in a undercover mission, and gave her slight hint about it. she was at once ready at it, though i still dont know why she was so eager to join it.'' DIG smirked at her, and Riya blushed. Every one gave each other quizzical look.

''after that bacteria incident, i contacted the doctors quickly, that if she shows any sign of improvement, they would call me first. and they did the same, they informed she is okay, and i ordered them to hide this news from you all.''

everyone gave accusing looks to DIG and riya's face fell a little. they all remember clearly that horrible day...it still hurts.

''the doctors told you all that she didnt survive, and it was my plan to shift her from hospital secretly. so in result, her body was missing from hospital, and you all were busy in that, while i shift her far away from all this.''

everyone listened intently to him, and was impatient whenever he was pausing. DIG straightens his back, and spoke again, ''i shifted her to my old farmhouse in pune. after that incident, she was so weak . it took 3 months for her to recover completely.''

''but how did she survive?' i mean that bacteria...'' sameer asked, and all nodded at him. they all were thinking the same thing.

''she gulped the bacteria capsule, but didnt chew it or damaged it. you see, the bacteria capsule was still intact after it went inside her body. if the cover was damaged slightly, she would have been dead even before coming to hospital. the doctors only had to remove the intact capsule by operating her.'' DIG explained. all sighed in relief and sank in the realization.

''after 3 months, i started her training in shooting, she had almost overcome her fear...'' he paused, while riya looked at arjun intently, while the latter was not removing his stare for a second from her face. it made her blush more.

''i and some other trusted person gave her some training about muslim culture and how to talk and behave to them. she was a quick learner, and in another 2 months, she was ready for the mission.''

''we made an background for her. she used to live in varanashi, but her family was killed by some goons. so she is now alone in this city. she came in front of sikandar first, and of course as we expected, he was smitten by her. it was not only the similarity in face that stole his heart, but also her behavior and personality. slowly she made a house in his heart, and soon moved in his hiding place too. he even did the engagement with her.'' DIG paused, and all gave disgusted look. it was disgusting to feel riya is related to sikandar, though it was all fake and it was all for mission.

''slowly she entered his business, and he also didnt see any wrong in it, or suspect her. love is blind, as they say...and of course her background was very strong, so he had not suspect her. and then, one day, the much awaited time come, thanks to her tip, we all were able to caught sikandar. ''

all gave appreciating look to riya, and she blushed more. DIG sighed, and continued.

''i thought maybe its the time i should call her back, then she discover startling revelations. that woman ,razia, was planning something big to free sikandar. riya wanted to finish this gang, so that not another sikandar rise from here. and i failed to convince her to come back. she is so stubborn.'' he said fondly, and all nodded in agreement. that surely she is, stubborn. she achieves what she wants dearly.

''it took another year for her to dig more inside this gang, and earn faith from all. it was not a easy task to win razia, and she could not do it fully. but she was able to get her caught. and when i thought all is over, this akram jumped at the scene. and the rest story you all know well.'' DIG concluded. all looked at him for more...still there is some loop holes.

riya's voice shocked everyone...they all needs time to get used to her again, '' i heard that rathore sir was attacked one day, and i knew it before khala...i mean razia was planning to harm him. she wanted revenge...from you and arjun sir...'' she paused and looked at arjun, '' i didnt know the main part of this big plan, and she was making things harder. so i had to think how to get her caught. and also i had to kidnap liza from airport, and keep her with myself. when i heard arjun sir was back, i thought to give you all little hints about what is gonna happen next, but i guess it didnt work out. you all reached at dead end, and again khala tried harder to harm rathore sir...if i had not reached hospital at the correct time, he would have...'' she paused, and aisha sameer shared a quick look. so she was at the hospital...they both gave her a thank you look, and riya nodded. she continued.

'' i called arjun sir, and gave him tip about razia. she was caught, and i thought maybe half the problem is solved...but akram shows up.''

she was cut by DIG's surprising voice, ''riya, you contacted arjun?''

she was about to answer, but arjun answered, ''she contacted me, but under the name of well wisher. and we met many times too...but she was under burkha all the time, and i thought she was part of the terrorist gang. i recently felt that maybe she is not what she seems...'' his voice trailed off, and he continued to stare at her, making her blush more. she continued.

''akram...he is very cunning and difficult to understand. after he come, he sent iqbal to kill rathore sir and arjun sir...i didnt understood the point of sending sharp shooter back then, but its all very clear now. i think he had guessed someone, or to be precise i am the backstabber in the gang. he sent sharp shooter, and i madly tried to contact chotu...''

she was again cut by 4 voices...rathore, aisha, shree and DIG ""chotu???''. she answered.

''i had contact chotu from the time i was in DIG sir's house. sorry sir...but i wanted to know about my family , and only way my mind came up with was contacting my friends.''

shree asked with little anger in voice, ''i was also your friend, you could have contact me too.''

she smiled, ''if i had contact you, your face and excitement would give away my little secret. shree, you are not such a good actor, right?''

chotu also replied, ''i also become good actor...all thanks to ri. She also called me and gave me idea about that secret passage...'' they both laughed, and hi5 each other. others smiled too, and shree also joined in the laugh.

she continued, ''i didnt realize when his doubt on me increased, or he sent people to varanasi to check about my background...whatever, i am glad he didnt confront me before plan, and include me in it all along, though he hide many things, but still i was in the plan.''

DIG said, ''i guess he came to know about it not so long before the mission...i guess he didnt get the time to confront you, riya. but there is no way to know it. he is dead.'' he concluded.

silence fell in the room. this all revelations were slowly leaving an impact in their mind. but the most positive part was, the team got back its most valuable member, whom they thought lost forever. but here she is, between them all, laughing and chatting with all. its feeling like she was not gone anywhere.

she also looked at her team fondly...2 years. but it feels so good after coming back. she missed it all, and now she is here. all is well now.

a thought crossed her mind, and she asked aloud to rathore sir, ''sir, am i still part of ETF team?''

all looked at her, then rathore, then DIG for answer. rathore also looked at his senior for answers. DIG smirked, ''i guess riya deserves an promotion for her bravery, is not it?''

all's face fell. promotion is equals to transfer. the happiness was suddenly eclipsed.

DIG smirked more, and then answered, ''relax everyone, she is rejoining ETF team, as research specialist now. but now riya will be known as ASP riya mukherjee.''

everyone yelled in delight, and congrats her, while she was so happy to say anything. soon everyone pulled her in hug, and the seniors laughed aloud at the juniors.

Epilogue.

The whole ETF team gathered in the party thrown by their chief, sameer rathore. It was some 4 days after the mission was finished and riya came back. She had also rejoined the team, and to make the happiness double, rathore has proposed aisha. So it was the night of double celebration, riya's success and a new starting of life for aisha sameer.

Everyone was enjoying the party, and riya was standing with her rest of team, cheering for the recently engaged couple, who were dancing on a slow romantic song. Her eyes fell on her hot boss, who was staring at her intently. Instantly she felt self conscious, and a blush appeared on her face.

Ever since she came back, she had noticed the visible difference in his attitude. She was first confused, but now she is feeling amazing at it. Had not its the same action she always wanted from him? She is not mistaking the feelings in his eyes, its all so clear. Now she is waiting for him to say it aloud. She shooed away the thoughts, and laughed as liza dragged shree on the dance floor,and some other girl dragged chotu . both saakshi liza had also joined this party, invited by sameer. They had thanked the team and riya enough for liza, and now enjoying the party. The normalcy were back in their lives too...now there is no tension or fear for the loved ones.

Riya sipped her cold drink, and soon she was startled, as arjun stood in front of her, offering his hand.is he asking her to dance?

She stared at him with disbelieve, while the other smirk. Then arjun took away her cold drink glass, kept it on the table, and pulled her on the dance floor.

That others were too surprise was understatement. They were about to pinch themselves to check if what they are seeing was dream. Only sameer smirked at this...somewhere he had noticed the change in arjun's behavior after her ... well for them...death. but now she is back, he is not hiding it anymore. And both shree -chotu somewhere guessed it all along, but witnessing it in front of their eyes were too much to bear. They had already bear this riya alive shock, now this was too much for them. Poor souls.

Riya was staring at him with surprise and awe, while the other was smirking at her reaction. Then he pulled her close, surprising her more. She realized their position, and blushed more. She concentrated on the song playing in the background.

''very apt song for this situation, is not it?'' he whispered in her ears, and she blushed more. She nodded in answer, and he looked at her eyes intently. Now it is feeling real to him...she is in his arms, now he is feeling its all reality, not a dream. And he was so happy...he was at peace. Everything was settled now. neither there was any burden, nor any guilt in his heart. Arjun was a free man, and he wanted to share his life with this girl in his arms. And he knew it pretty well the feelings this girl share for him. He had always guessed in her words, in her actions. And his happiness doubled by this mere realization.

They both continued to dance like that, and the song continued in the background. he whispered again.

''agar agli baar kisi undercover mission ko join karne ka man kare, to at least contact me, dont give me heart attack like that ever again.''

Though he started in a play full voice, his tone changed into serious one in later words. She stared back in his coal black eyes deeply, and replied back.

''ab main apko chod ke kahin nahi jaoongi...kabhi nahi.''

He smiled back, and she smiled too. There was no need to speak more. They all knew it perfectly what they feel for each other. They continued to dance like that, enjoying each other's company, while the song played in the background.

The party went on, and their lives are back on track again.
