Half-an-hour later,
"Samar, bas 5 minute aur, fir nikalte hain hum log..."
Samar nodded in yes,
"Theek hai sir, aap apna kam dekh lijiye...tab tak mein garage se gaadi nikal deta hunn..."
5 minutes later,
Niharika was holding her dad's index finger and was busy hopping. As soon as the duo reached the door to leave,
"Ik minute papa!"
He looked at his daughter,
"Kya huya Nihu?"
"Papa, mein ik minute aayi!"
"Jaldi!"
"Haan bach one minute!" she said, and rushed towards the dining area.
She lifted her small face and looked at her mother's portrait hanging on the wall. She blew her mother's portrait 4-5 flying kisses, and again rushed back to her dad,
"Sorry, woh mein mumma ko kichie karni bhul gaya tha..."
He lowered his face, as he tried to control his sobs.
"Mein Dustin Sir ki beti nahi hunn...adopted daughter..." she told him, as she wiped away her tears.
He looked at her confused. She spoke up again,
"Mere baba constable thay, par ik case mein...unke jaane ke 2 saal baad Dustin Sir ne mujhe adopt kar liya..."
"And your mother?" he asked her.
She slightly nodded in -ve.
"Aur ab, meine Niharika ko adopt karliya...achi tarah jaanti hunn unn logon ka dukh, jinka koi nahi hota...ab se woh meri beti, aur mein uski mumma..."
The duo walked towards a white Swift Dzire, as the father took the driving seat, and Samar sat next to him on the passenger seat, while Nihu sat on the backseat.
Few minutes later,
Samar : "Sir, 2 ghante toh lag hi jayenge na Chandigarh pahunchne mein?"
Him : "Yeah!"
Samar : "Sir, aap aage jab bhi jaate ho, toh Monday wahaan rukk kar hi aate ho...iss baar bhi?"
Him : "Nahi Samar, kal 10th ka FA lena hai Bio ka, no holiday..."
Samar : "Bechare bache..."
He just looked at Samar and smiled.
"Jab dekho dant te hi rehte ho...mission ke time, ab ETF join ki hai toh yahaan bhi tum...ur so akdu!"
"Akdu mein nahi, koi aur hai..."
"Hunh! Galatfehmi hai ACP Sahab...Hum log officers hain, ur juniors, but that doesn't mean, ki u are going to burden us with so much of work..."
"Papa, ganne sunn ne hai..."
Even Samar joined her,
"Sir please, and haan, yeh pen drive ke gaane..."
"Ok, continue Samar...par haan, no shor at all..."
"Yes papaaa!" screamed Nihu.
Samar hit the play button,
Mere photo ko seene se yaar,
chipkale saiyyan Fevicol Se,
He again traveled into the memory lane,
"Toh tum kya yahaan table pe chadke dance karogi, bollywood style mein?" he asked her.
She winked at him.
Few minutes later, she was dancing on the song : Fevicol Se.
After she finished, she walked towards him, and handed him 5 notes of Rs.100.
"Policewaali hokar logon ko paise khaati ho...sharam nahi aati?"
"Abhi sirf 500 lekar aayi hunn, mera bass chalta toh 5000 leke aati..."
"Hain?" he said, as he looked at her with his eyebrows raised.
"Sir"
He was lost in the memory lane. Samar shook him a bit,
"Haan, haan, Haan Samar..."
"Aap theek hain Sir?"
"Haan, mujhe kya huya?"
"Nahi, aap kuch, khoye khoye se thay..."
The next song on the playlist was :
Disco Deewane! Ahaan! Ahaan!
Nasheeli hai raat,
Ho haathon mein haath...
Again, he was lost in the memory lane,
"Mujhe ni dance karna akduu ke saath...kitna pagal hai! Senty hai! Devdas kahin ka!"
He nodded his head, and almost forced her to dance with 'Akdu'
The song was Disco Deewane, but had Salsa steps.
"Dance toh tumne bhi kiya tha uss din mere saath, yaar ye...mujhe ni jaana akdu ke saath...please! Agar performance karvaani hai, toh u have to dance with me..."
"Nahi, uss din ka dance majboori mein kiya gaya tha...aur aaj, tumhein hi akdu ke saath dance karna padega..."
She had no other option, except, going on stage with 'Akdu'
"Usse yeh gaana bahut pasand tha...usse har woh gaana pasand tha...jis par dance kiya jaa sake...Dance was her passion..." he spoke up.
"Your wife?" asked Samar.
He just looked at Samar, and nodded a bit in +ve.
The duo were busy talking about Samar's studies, as Nihu was busy dancing on the backseat.
"Backseat pe bahut kuch hota hai ACP Sahab..."
He looked at her, through the corner of his eyes.
"Aise kya dekh rahe ho? Meine jo kaha sach hi kaha...ab dekho...bechara Shree, apne tab pe games khel raha hai...kai log backseat pe romance karte hain...kai dance karte hain...vaise Nihu bhi backseat pe baithi dance kar rahi hai..."
He looked at Nihu, through the rear-view mirror, who was busy dancing on the backseat.
Her dimpled smile, straight brown hairs, brown eyes, her beautiful face was flashing in his mind. He, then looked at Nihu. Nihu, was her aakhri nishani. Nihu was neither her daughter, nor his. She was an orphan. She adopted Nihu, when she was 2 year old, and after she left, he adopted Nihu.
