Nope.

She isn't a gold digger. Alas!

Not one of her many flaws.

She's just lucky.

No. How is she a gold digger when she didn’t even get a penny of her share after divorce from Anuj and left everything of hers to him?

SurajMaa is thepla, dhokla, fapra, pera, khichuri, keto sandwich digger. Not sure gold digger or not but Maa for sure loves money. Free flow of money NO Doubt. And for Sha house she has a gold pot at Kapadia mansion. Absolutely no doubt.

She wanted the money for her adult children and Shah. That doesn't make her less of a gold digger. Reason she didn't take a penny is because Shahs threw her out so she didn't need the money anymore.

Golddigger is a massively misogynist term. Marriage is a legal, social, and economic institution. Those aspects are what differentiate it from two lovers living together.* In this very forum, I have seen comments on how Bilait-return, MBA-gifts-of-gods do not choose let alone tolerate 'women like Anupama.'

Women are supposed to leave their natal families and (in this case, even frequent interaction with their children of ex DNA to prove loyalty to god-gift-NRI pati), do free domestic labour for the man's family. (Issue is Upmaa being engaged with her ex-sasural instead of new sasural rather than the fact that she is codependent on her abusers), but god forbid if they think about their financial security in a marriage— which is their legal right no less!

Anupamaa is supposed not even mourn the death of her son properly so that Anuj's fragile feelings don't get neglected and that their daughter (unlike her child with ex) doesn't feel neglected while a person literally died. But god forbid if this billionaire, Bilaiti degree wala ingenius pati chooses to spend his money on his wife's children with his own consent and sanity.

It's as if Anuj has no freewill and Upma has a voodoo doll making him do all these things.

Biological mum has the right to take away the unadopted daughter. ANU KAISE LE JAANE DE SAKTI HAI.

Blame your wife for not having children of your own because you were obsessed with a married woman for more than two decades. Upmaaaa ki galti.

Abandon her to go play home with another woman who is conjugally interested in you. Upma neglected Bilaiti pati by being involved with her children. I had completely forgotten about when they were about to get divorced-but-dil-se-together to take care of Maya for beti ka pyaar.

Has emotionally catfished a perfectly decent human like Shruti for beti ka pyaar because which father-of-the-year says no when their traumatised teenaged child asks them to get into a loveless relationship/ marriage? Upmaa ki galti for existing at all after being a bad mother.

Anupamaa is pathetic for many a reasons but this patni-ka-neglected-naïve-martyr-patihood is really unconvincing lol.

* Though in most countries, live-in relations are being given the same legal, social, and economic sanction, and rightly so.

Ok. Not sure about the term itself. Because the show seems to redefine vocabulary.

Everything apart, one cannot deny Anupama had different rules for Shahs and Kapadias when it came to finances/treatment.

Cases in point,

1. Awarding "loans", "funds" to Shahs v/s Kapadias despite "reviewing" and rejecting a full prejentashun on trivial grounds for setting up a business v/s granting loan without collateral or using company goodwill for business or free flow of shopping.

2. Appointment through interview at intermediate positions despite having skill and experience v/s Direct Appointment at executive positions at Kapadia Empire.

3. Not to forget about difference in treatment of "elders" in the family.

Now coming to any family owned business or company.

If it is an enterprise employing people, the company is responsible for the financial integrity and well bring of the company notwithstanding personal relations.

Just because the spouse or any family member may have more access to the company finances, does NOT give freedom to utilise it. Should anyone misuse or excessively use them, the company, on the direction of the head should enforce restrictions and guardrails against misuse of power and finances.

Professional obligations do NOT protect personal financial independence.

Post wedding, a wife has right to the personal wealth or earnings of the husband but no right is absolute in nature. Should the husband suspect misuse of his wealth, he can and should enforce caution and protection.

Case in point:

Anuj had given an add-on card from the Company (substantiated by the fact that bills were sent to Anuj-Anupama at office for review) to Pakhi which was misused or indiscriminately used. The Accounts department raised this and sent the bills over to Anuj-Anupama's for review and approval.

Refer the episode when Anupama disrespectfully throws the cut credit card at Anuj questioning him on why he gave her the card or not stop ger from usage, he says he thought she was at office when the Accounts department brought it to their notice. (Anyway, one has to go to office or work to know if there are complains/issues. But that is another matter.)
