Its really upto the actors what age they want to play, if they are willing and happy to play a character much older than their actual age then its on them not on the makers, nobody is forcing the actors…they have a choice to make an informed decision on the role they are offered to play, unless they are dumb enough to sign the contract without reading it
This is just a convoluted way to beat around the bush about something which is systemic. Women don't get to experiment with roles especially if age is a factor because that limits their career span. That is that.
If younger women are being cast in older roles while the actresses of that age-group play maternal supporting roles, that is still ageist, fetishistic and ultimately ends women's financial avenues.
That still does not change the fact that actors in their 20s being cast opposite Gaurav (who is 42, playing a 50-something character) is age-inappropriate casting. While an actress' fans are being lampooned for fantasising about age-inappropriate ships, the ML's potential age-inappropriate casting/ship is being celebrated. Both are eeks.
Saying Rupali's (46) character would look good with Kunwar's (38) character is being criticised in a thread fawning over Gaurav's (42) potential pairing with Ayesha (26/27).
