Just because Anupamaa is a trash character does not mean Anuj is a green flag or that age-appropriate casting is null and void.

Anuj (and Gaurav on-screen) should be romancing people their own age. He's 50-something now? What is he doing with women in their 20s-30s? Unless any of these new actresses are willing to age themselves on-screen.

Do you think actresses of Gaurav's own age-bracket are not hot enough or something?

Umm aren't you doing the same thing lol? Rupali is not sweet 16 but neither is Gaurav. Both should be paired opposite people their own age. This exactly how showbiz discriminates against women. Men in their 40s get cast opposite women in their 20s and women in their 30s play supporting maternal roles. Rupali has been age-shamed since the beginning of the show, and this is most likely her last lead role. While Gaurav, if he's smart, can play an ML for at least two more shows.

From a character's perspective, why should it be normalised that a person in their 50s is dating someone, at the very least, two and half decades younger than them? The power-dynamics are too lopsided and weird. Couldn't Anuj date someone his own age? Would the jealousy and third-angle aspect have not worked with a Shayantani/Narayani/Shilpa?

I’d just like to say that neither RG or GK have a say in the casting of the show, RG might cause she is senior(role wise, before you think otherwise) and the show revolves around her.

Fans can root for anyone they like, coming up with a bunch of names for a role is a common PR exercise and its the makers who take the final call that works best for them…

Age shaming is a widely prevalent issue in the TV and film industry and though there are minor reforms it will take a while for it to go away completely if it ever will…

I am all for a healthy debate but just a reminder to keep it pleasant…
