For Mahapama, abuse is only physical. Remember how much she was praising her true love Mishter Shan that atleast he never hit her (a new scene was added after public outrage when she PRIVATELY acknowledged that mental abuse is also traumatizing)

So for her only physical beating can draw the line.

And Makhi, like Vannu, is "tolerating" the abuse for the main reason being that if it is revealed, people will not sympathize with them but assume that they deserved it because they themselves were not such great spouses either.

You are right. Dimpy, Maya, Adhik were once victims of crime themselves and are now villains. All to glorify the Shahs. Baa Shah who is the biggest abuser in this show is supposedly only grumpy because of old age problems. 🤔

This show actually had the potential because the audience had accepted divorce and were looking forward to Anupama's solo journey before Anuj entry. The audience was progressive for ITV which is such a rarity as many shows don't get that kind of numbers for showing such content. Alas, the makers here turned out to be regressive and squandered a beautiful chance to bring a welcome change in ITV where a woman will stand up for herself against family too if need be.

Before anuj entry anupama show was used to be good and realistic but now ....
