On one side is a mother,

• who was not able to teach two of her children to respect her, while a third has an unhealthy attachment to her that's almost Oedipal and is always looking for a wife like her and will dump the girl who just won't sacrifice enough.
• Her standards of respect are based on age and not actions.
• Extremely indecisive.
• Starts doing the same regressive things out of "compulsion" which she claims to have wanted to escape.
• Claims to be independent but whatever has worked for her till date was done majorly by someone else.
• Claims to have a stand of her own that melts like salt in water at the slightest show of emotion.
• Starts many ventures to show off she can do everything but abandons them midway for phemily
• Hangs out with people who disrespect her all the time.
• Will give a child a family to live in but a family that is toxic and will convert the child to either a doormat or a brat.
• Unhygienic, superstitious, and won't change for anything.
• Keeps ranting "I am the Besht, my Phemily is the besht"

And on the other hand there is a mother,

• without a family and has actually handled most of her life alone
• Stayed in a dangerous place for many years and yet didn't lose hope and escaped
• Her standards of respect come from people who actually helped her.
• Doesn't go back to prostitution out of compulsive habit
• Didn't fall in love with her abusers or make them her family.
• Is an actual self-made businesswoman without investments or inheritances from long lost lovers and is not running a business that is gifted.
• PAYS HER OWN BILLS
• Could have forgotten her daughter and started a new life but kept coming back.
• Got attracted to a married man but backed off when he disrespected her and will not relent now.
• Can do house work and have a full-time career.
• Has experiences that can actually inspire her daughter to do better in life.
• Changed her mannerisms for her career (a brothel is usually not a hygienic place, she must not have had much training)
• Doesn't have dysfunctional and toxic people around her.
• Doesn't rant "I am the best" all the time.

The choice shouldn't be difficult. Okay let me tabulate,

Anupamaa pros:

• Cooks great food.
• Will keep loving you even if you detrimentally disrespect her.
• Her response to someone abusing her child varies depending upon how attached she is to the abuser.

Anupamaa cons:

Do we really wanna go there?

Maaya pros:

• Strong and level headed.
• Decent Career woman as well as a decent homemaker. She is neither the multi-millionaire private jet user that Anuj is, nor is the phataphat kitchen queen like Anupamaa but she has just enough of both to give CA a peaceful life.
• Doesn't have unnecessary relationships to hold her down.
• Will aggressively retaliate to anyone trying to harm her as well as her child irrespective of who they are.

Maaya cons:

• May be an absent parent sometimes only because she is a single parent and not because she has to babysit her adult-children.
• The child may get insulted if they come to know about her past.
• May fall in love with wrong people again (she truly has a type, men who don't value her more than trash)
