Thanks for bringing it up. Like i mentioned on another thread, stereotypes are manufactured and sustained by media on many occasions in subtle forms. There are stereotypes for gender, profession, dressing, regions, everything. There is no conscious effort to break these.
We are, globally, a patriarchal society and there was a reason for it. It was based on mutual respect and distribution of responsibilities.
Like many other things, what we see is a degraded and influenced form of societal rules based on power and physical strength built of years.
There is a larger shift in Urban areas.
However, I guess, that is not the issue here.
What the show is intending show is beyond humble mortals' understanding.
I presume, we are not ok with either Paritosh or Pakhi because they are not responsible individuals. They don't take ownership of their actions and are not thankful for mercies.
Infact, we have called out differential treatment of Pakhi-Adhik wedding vis-a-vis Paritosh-Kinjal wedding which was widely accepted and lauded while there is NO difference in the two.
The presume, we are not ok with Pakhi not pursuing her studies and choosing to dropout especially in a show that is supposed to be supportive of women education. If she completes her graduation, she has the options and means to support her family. Eventually, what happens or what she chooses is a larer discussion.
Ironically, ALL educated women are shown as vamps or useless.
Educated and experienced people struggle finding a job (which is true given the huge talent available) where as, Anupama got it ALL without a degree or experience.
What are they trying to show?! None one knows
