“Anu!!! tum mujhe aise chod kar nahi jaa sakti Anu... please mat jao..tumne wada kiya tha mujhse shadi karne na” he begged.
*bang bang bang* she heard on the door and checked the clock to see it was 3am.
“Anu darwaza kholo....Anu please!!!” her heart sank hearing him wail and scared she leaped to get the door...
“Anuj kya hua?” she asked as she worriedly opened the door to find him sweaty, teary and terrified.
“Anu!” he gasped and threw his arms around her and wrapped them as though clinging on to dear life.
“Anujjjj” she hugged him back tight to calm him down.
“kya hua?” she asked breaking away from the hug but he pulled her back and she didn’t resist.
“Anu tumne mujhse shadi ka vaada kiya tha” he cried
“haan Anuj, aap aise kyu bol rahe hai?” unable to make sense of his fear she pulled him inside the house and shut the door.
“Anuj yaha aayiye, baithiye” she said sitting him down on the couch and went to fetch some water.
“ab bataiyye, kya hua?” she asked offering him the glass...
Putting it aside, he grabbed her hands and said “Anu, tum mujhe chod ke toh nahi jaogi na, mujhe please mat chodna”
“Anuj mai yahin hoon aapke paas” she assured as he plonked his head in her lap still holding onto her hand firmly.
Wiping his flowing tears with her thumb, she ran her hands through his hair and let his hiccups settle.
“Anu, maine bohot bura sapna dekha, tum mujhe chod kar jaa rahi thi aur meri jaan nikal gayi, tum mujhe chod ke mat jaana Anu...chaho toh mai tumhare liye aur 26 saal intezaar kar loonga par tum mujhe chodna mat, mujhse shadi ke liye mana mat karna...”
Digging his face in her belly he tried to wipe clean the dreadful images of his nightmare and she could tell how mortified he was with the thought of losing her.
After a short while when his tears had dried out and he looked calm, she looked him in the eye and sighed making him wonder what was going on in her mind...
“Anuj mere saath aayiye” she said lifting his head from her lap
“kahan?” he asked and she took him to the little temple by the kitchen
She got the sindoor from the shelf and gestured him to do what he’d been wanting to do for the longest...
“nahi Anu, tum toh chahti thi..”
“haan chahti toh thi, par wo tab ki baat thi, ab ki baat kuch aur hai, ab toh mujhse bhi intezaar nahi ho raha Anuj, meri maang bharke mujhe apni patni bana lijiye...”
“sach? sochlo”
“sochliya!”
His eyes welled up as he pinched the vermillion and filled it in her hair and her eyes brimmed with tears of joy to see him happy...
Sliding his hands around her neck he pulled her face close to lips and planted a kiss on her forehead to affirm his vows.
Resting her head on his heart, she heard it beating louder and faster as she nuzzled her face in his chest.
“thank you Anu, mujhe apna pati banane ke liye” he said pulling her into a gentle embrace that git intense in a few moments.
Breaking away from it reluntantly he asked giving her a longing look
“ab mai jaao?”
Replying with an equally yearning look, she passionately dragged him into the bedroom without saying a word.

“good morning pati dev!” she greeted
Scrunching his eyes open, he rubbedthem in amazement to find her next to him in bed...
“Anu? wo sapna tha ya ye sapna hai?”
Drawing him close to her face, she pressed and locked her lips with his to tell him it wasnt a dream...
Feasting on her lips he demanded further proof as he slid his hand under the sheets to check how far they had got to last night and he was pleasantly surprised...
Smiling to himself he gave her a sheepish look and arched his brows teasingly when she dug face in his bare chest and pushed herself close to him.
“Anu”
“hmm?”
“soch raha hoon kaash ye sapna maine pehle dekha hota...”
