Part 7
After I waited for hours finally Anuj had sauntered in the office as if he had not a care in the world. Looking at his casual attitude and demeanour riled me up once again. Even after the long talk with that man who managed to cool me down and bring me to reality, I couldnt help but resurface my pent up anger and frustration at Anuj. How come he has all that I desire even without asking for it. How dare he take whats mine and stay happy with it while I feel miserable every night before going to sleep.
All these feelings had barely made their way to my head when I got up and charged towards Anuj with all my force and directly took an aim for his neck. Not expecting this action, he was taken by surprise and I took that moment to push him against the wall while managing to lift him up a few inches above the ground, with the wall supporting half his weight it was not that difficult a task to do that.
I had expected him to squirm in pain and try writhe in pain but all I could see was a smirk on his face. God this man annoyed me to no limits. He always managed to make me angrier at him and then blames it all on me that I am an impulsive man. HUH! What a fool, dosent he recognize that I have the upper hand here and he is the victim.
Before I could utter another word, he slowly brought his hand upto the one that I had on his neck and excruciatingly peeled each one of my fingers out of the grasp of his neck and flung my hand out of his neck. I saw him move his neck left and right like he was preparing for a boxing match and then looked at me with a predatory stare. Before I could register what took place and heal my aching fingers , I found myself taking Anuj's place on the wall, but I was higher up in the air and his tight hold on my wind pipe made my fight for each breath I was taking.
After what seemed like eternity he spoke with a calm voice,
"You know the amount of time you spend cursing your luck, me and Anupama is the amount of time I spend in the gym every morning. If you want, things can take a nasty turn from here and you would probably end up in a hospital even before we get to the good part. So I give a fair warning that you keep your hands and words in check today. Because one wrong move and you are off to misery. Am I clear ?"
Anuj's voice boomed through the empty office and I was left in no state than to agree. He removed his hold from my neck and I felt relief flooding in my lungs. When I finally stabled and caught my breath, I found that Anuj was already seated on the couch with his legs spread amiably on the coffee table. I walked up in front of him and took a seat across from him to ask the question that had been pestering my mind after the escapade that took place a moment back.
"How did you do that? I mean didnt I defeat you at arm wrestling that day?" I asked with genuine curiosity in my voice.
He just laughed at the question as if it were a joke, "That day, you had all your children in front of you and I didnt want to see a father fail in front of his children. That day I had nothing to loose and nothing to prove, so it didnt matter whether I won or lost but now it does. So lets get down to business shall we ? "
I nodded still trying to process the newly acquired information. His voice again loud, clear and firm echoed from the walls of his furnished office and I finally looked up an him. His face was one that resembled a perfect business man who was here to do his work and no shit was getting in his way. Months ago that would have sacred me but now it just purely disgusts me to see him so I ignored it and proceeded to do what I came here to do in the first place.

V - So! I heard that you offered jobs to all my staff at the cafe, care to explain why you need my staff when you and your wife are oh so competent in doing everything ?
A - No! I dont really care to explain but you know there is this one thing that I find amusing is that when I approached them they seemed more than happy to join, one poor soul even thanked me from saving him from a hell hole. His words not mine (Raising his hand up in nonchalance)
V - That is not my question MR. KAPADIA (Visibly angry)
A - Always the petulant one aren't you Mr.Shah. I'll tell you when the time is right. First, lets go through some stats (statistics) shall we ?
V - What statistics ?
A - Follow me !
(Without sparing a second glance Anuj heads towards his cabin and takes his seat while gesturing Vanraj to take the one opposite him)
V - What is it Mr.Kapadia
A - (While removing a few papers from his drawers) You see Mr.Shah I had to dig some skeletons in the closet because you forced me to and look what I found.
V - (Going through the papers)How did you....This is nothing....You cant
A - It is what it is, Now lets analyse.... So you took a feasible loan from the bank and started investing it in the stock market, while you were making your profit, I had this doubt of how you were paying off your loans and the answers came rushing to me. Do you know what I feel the best part is; that you had been blackmailing some of your clients from your previous workplace to provide you with money under the table. You made a good amount before you finally let them go. Might I add your 3 precious cases fetched you a generous 50 lakh. Now that the family started garnering suspicion on the sudden hype of income you had stop your little cheat firm to avoid further questioning.
All your transaction receipts are attached so dont even bother to lie. Now my question of how did you manage to find the dirt under their nails was answered just recently when I found Kavya talking to the head of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) department from your office and it was a long 2 hour talk to say the least. Atleast thats what the call records say.
Anyways I see that this obsession of yours i.e to 'become a rich man' has ceased your ability to think properly. So I felt that all of your statements might bring back some coherent thought.
V - (Tearing the papers) There you go, nothing left. Wait...how dare you spy on us !
A - (Laughing dryly and ignoring his question) You really think I was stupid enough to give you an original. Even if I did, didnt you once imagine that if I can get it once who would stop me from getting it twice. (sighing and after a pause) Did I tell you how discreet you are Mr.Shah ?
V - Ummmm....NO (He was visibly scared and tried his best to hide it)
A - Thats because you are not (Genuinely laughing this time). Anyways lets get back to topic. Well I did hear about your land and cafe. I wanted to say I am sorry but I am not, so dont mind. It was very sad indeed that all this happened while Anu was unconscious, she would have rushed to help you out but since you yourself blocked that way, deal with the consequences now
V - What do you mean....How do you know....The police told me it was a private statement.
A - You might be shocked but sometimes private things can be made public if you are persuasive enough. You of all people should know, after all you have used it quite a few times yourself havent you ?
V - YOU.... This whole...this cafe...this land.....It was you. It is you, isnt it. You did this to me.
A - Ahhhh finally. I thought you will never figure. It took you so much time though I've dropping hints here and there and still you choose to ignore them like the problems in your life.
V - This is not funny you b@$&*d (While banging his hand on the desk)
A - Be careful Vanraj, dont forget my warning. As it is you are in a bad place you dont want to unleash my bad side now do you
V - What do you want now. Why are you even doing this. Why not send me straight to jail for what I did to you are your wife, why all this drama ?
A - Oh good old drama. You see Vanraj I have been trying to keep you in jail but you seem to not want to be there so I decided why not make the normal world a living jail for you ?
So how is life treating you Vanraj ??? (He had a very visible smirk that ceased to disappear and it only hinted at growing every other statement. Oh how Anuj enjoyed this!)
V - You know you are sick, go get help.
A - Oh yeah I just got treated for turning a blind eye and forgiving spineless people like you. I think I am better than ever now, thank you very much.
Which bring me to a therapist you so painstakingly contacted over the past month. Much to your disappointment wasnt it? No replies and stuff. (His tone growing colder by the minute)
V - Of course you would know, wouldnt you. (Finally realising that he is not in a shape to throw attitude)
A - You dare doubt. Now, I also know of a certain Mr.Malik in the involvement and I am not pleased Vanraj. You tried all these dirty tricks with him knowing my past with him. Not a good move. You dared to reach out to my MUKKU and that has consequences.
V - You got me alright but you have nothing on him. He is a leading businessman in India & abroad, you cant lay a finger on him. He will clear me out before I reach the police station. You wouldnt think I work without insurance, do you ?
A - Oh, I knew. It was obvious that walnut sized brain of yours didnt have the capacity to go along unnoticed for this long. You obviously had someone behind you, but again you made the mistake of carrying half information. You know sometimes incomplete information can be harmful and in your case deadly. (His voice grew venemous as he spoke his next words)
Mr. Malik was a sorry excuse of a father for my sisters ex husband Akshay. I sent Akshay behind bars but that wretched man wriggled out. He was seeking his so called revenge for long but I did wonder why you would listen to him just like that. But then I found out that he was offering you a partnership at his firm at Delhi and you oh so gladly became him watchdog. Following him around like a lost cause not knowing that I have been waiting for his one wrong move all these years.
Mukku was emotionally attached to her abuser and I didnt get to kill him with my own bear hands THEN and THERE, so I sent her for therapy and told her to live life on her own terms now. Meanwhile I kept an eye on that father in law of hers but I learnt my lessons when his other rivals failed. Strike when the irons hot they say. I was seething when both of yall tried to contact my Mukku through that therapist of hers, thankfully he informed me before your dirty tricks got to him but the iron was still cold. You Vanraj have been warming up that temperature for me and now I am ready to strike.
(Removing another envelope from his drawer and sliding it towards Vanraj. He opened it and the final ray of hope and support that he was holding onto seemed to vanish and he had that defeated look which Anuj had yearned for since very long now)
The envelope had a legal copy of a land in Delhi which now belonged in the name of Anuj Kapadia. The same land on which Vanraj was supposed to have his office built now belonged to Anuj. Apparently Mr.Malik had started illegal construction there a few moths back, it originally belonged to the government which was passed on to some poor farmers as part of a substitute land for the Metro project, but somewhere in between the process, Malik had attached his name and the farmers never got their land. Anuj had gone through the whole process and bought this land which he gifted to the deserving farmers. Vanra'js dream was brutally crushed but he didnt understand how Mr.Malik would suffer from this.
His curiosity very visible and was satiated by Anuj soon enough.
He again handed him a bunch of papers which said :
Malik owned only 30% of the shares in his company and the rest was held by his investors and some non profit organization which he included to just for public support. Anuj had convinced the other 60% share holders to sell him their shares giving them proof of his illegal activities which spread farther than Delhi. Assured that share of the the non profit organization was not hindered, he had arranged for a meeting with Mr.Malik the following day but he had been in a conference in California and had not returned yet. What Anuj planned to do with the shares was his lookout alone and he didnt bother telling Vanraj his strategies instead he checked the time on his watch and said "It must be night there, he must be sleeping. No worries, do wish him a good morning tomorrow from my side and give him this wonderful news for breakfast. And plss do post this letter on your way out. Hope the letter reaches faster than your news. "

Vanraj walked out of the cabin without a word, knowing he had lost everything this time. He was in no position to even utter a word so he just got up and left. As he made his way out the main gate, he absentmindedly walked towards the main road but before he could turn around the corner, he felt something hard hit his leg and he fell on his knees. He turned around and saw some goons ready to attack him with all they had. He knew karma had come to bite him in his @$$ in the form of Anuj Kapadia and he let the pain reign over as blood oozed out of his mouth and he fell unconscious to the sound of ambulance sirens ringing around. He would live his hellish life a little longer after all.

Anuj had a satisfactory smile while he watched from his window, the fall of Vanraj Shah and he couldnt help but feel at peace. His retribution was served and he could walk around again knowing that no one dared touch him or his family.
After all no one touches whats MINE and gets away with it.
The End
