Great shot! Loved reading how things had moved on for Anupama and Anuj…. Acceptance from the family members as expected and not from the predictable ones.

A lazy afternoon

Sunday afternoons are always quite in the Kapadia household. After a sumptuous lunch prepared by the entire family, everyone goes about relaxing and enjoying their Sunday, sitting on the couch.

Babuji and Kaka went to Kaka's room to take some rest after a heavy lunch. All kids were at Anupama's place today as Vanraj and Kavya had gone abroad. Mamaji and Ba were sitting on the swing which Anu and Anuj had gotten for Ba on her first birthday after their marriage, chatting about various stuff. Ba came around and accepted Amy's decision after seeing Anuj's love for her ex- daughter in law. Though she wouldn't say it out, she still feels guilty for putting Anupama through 26 years of hell. And though repentance is difficult now, she tries to make it up by visiting her often and trying to be a mother to her. Not very successful in that though, but it was good that she tried to take the first step.

Kinjal, Nandini, Samar, Toshu and Pakhi were sitting in the living room along with Anupama playing Ludo. It was a family routine that they followed if everyone gathered together. They would play, sing and have lots of fun as they don't live together now and these get-togethers are becoming less frequent, since Pakhi spends her weekends at Vanraj's house. Toshu, though begrudgingly, accepted that his mother is also entitled to have a life of her own and not just remain single after divorce. Though he doesn't speak much with Anupama now, he does love her as his mother, and tries to respect her wishes. His relationship with Anuj is just a hi-bye one, but that doesn't bother Anupama much, since she believes that he will come around. He was too much under his father's influence that bringing him out of it is a bit difficult. But he is trying and Anupama is happy about it.

Meanwhile, Anuj was sitting in the corner and watching the proceedings with a gentle smile on his lips. After a long time, he wasn't alone in his life. Other than GK, he had another father like figure, in his life, he had children who called him papa, and most importantly, he had the love of his life , his Anu, in his life. If someone would have asked him if he had expected this 2 years ago, when he came to Ahmedabad, he would have just laughed. He was a person who dared not to dream about such a life. Umeed nahin honi chahiye. That was his motto. But somehow, life has its own mysterious ways to bring two people together. Dher aaye, par durusth aaye. He was a contended man.

He noticed the smile on Anu's face. He was happy that her children didn't sideline her or hate her for following her heart. And they didn't hold any resentments against him too. Except Toshu, but that was expected. But he isn't much worried as he still meets with anupama and that keeps her happy enough. And that's enough for him.

He was sitting on his shayari sofa, at the balcony, looking at the house activities. He was writing his diary so intently that he never noticed a pair of hands looping through his neck. He smiled and placed a gentle kiss on that hand, as a thank you to the owner of those hands, whose entry into his life, made it heaven.

Anu: Kya kare rahein hain. Abhi bhi shayari likh rahein hain. Abh toh chodiye. Ab aap akele nahin hai heina. Aapke pas ek poora parivaar hai. Ab is tanhaayi ki Kya zaroorath?

Anu placed her chin on Anuj's forehead.

Anuj smilingly replied, " Tab mein apne sapnon ke baare mein liktha tha. Abh hakikat ke baare mein likh raha hoon, jo ek sapna jaise lag raha hai. "

Anu casually sat next to Anuj, and put her head on his shoulders while Anuj put his hands over her shoulders to pull her close and kissed her forehead gently.

Anuj: Anu, tu kush haina?

Anu smiled and realized that her husband still fears that he might have forced her away from her children. He still remembers the first time they had signed the partnership and what she had said about her relationships as a mom and daughter.

Anu: Anuj, mujhe apne bachchon se hamesha pyaar mila hai, apne ba air babuji se bhi pyaar mila hai. Par ek pati ka pyaar kabhi nahin mila. Sirf nafrat mila hai. Sirf dard mila hai.

A stray tear made its way out of Anu's eyes, which Anuj lovingly wiped off. He tried to stop her from remembering her painful past, but she just smiled and continued.

Anu: Divorce ke baad, dum ghudthi thi us ghar mein phir bhi rahi us ghar me. Par aap aaye, aur bina mujhe khudh pathaa chale, meri life badhal dhi. Zindagi ki dekhne ki nazariya badal di. Jeene ki ek nayi wajah mili. Apne bachchon ke alaava bhi ek duniya dhikhi. To Shayar Kapadia ji, mein is Zindagi mein ab bahoth khush hun. Bas aise hi rehna chahtha hoon.

Anuj just smiled and laid back comfortably on the sofa with Anu in his arms. The noise in the house had gone down. Ba and Mamaji had gone to sleep and the bachcha party was also taking a nap. There was a peaceful silence. Anuj just smiled and closed his eyes. His wife was happy and was in his arms, on his strong chest. He had a family, in front of his eyes. It was indeed a wonderful afternoon!
