More like an essay since I finally found the forum😛🥳 seldom Desi telly gives something to analyse and I love talking with other folks regarding it.
Hello all. Riya/Ri here. If you can see my siggie box and avi you can see I am a big fan of the show. Crime mixed with horror, and I never miss crime shows😆. So here goes the essay which has been inside me for weeks now. Please bear.
I did not know the show was based on X files, it explains the personalities of skeptic/believer and the BG tune. That tune made me think of X files instantly. But I guess the similarities ends there. Vikrant is a lot more intense than Mulder in his mannerisms and way of expressing and Aditi is softer. Tv shows or books mostly has these opposite attract thing down to physical appearances- a bulky guy with a petite girl but here it works. Fits. Vikrant being an ACP who was obviously active in cases, a veteran of the department with close contact to senior, his strict attitude with sarcastic tongue- the casting team has done a great job on finding the actor👏 Also so pleasing on the eye, I have a crush on him since day 1😆 And Aditi, my baby. I am biased towards my ladies and it saddens me how Crime shows don't portray women outside dead wife/bitchy colleague routine. She was a pleasant surprise. Soft, vulnerable, expressive, yet gets job done and stern when needed (the case where panchayet buries girl child in field was so badass. The shipper inside me wishes Vik was there to be a silent guardian but feminist inside me loved her tackling all the misoginy) her inability to express her link with Other worldly beings, her despair at failures, even the eyeroll she gives to Vik when he is being unreasonable is so her. The team could not have found better Aditi for the role.
The first meeting was enough indication from a shipper POV. It was so magical, and Vik looked like his breath got stuck in his throat There was some posts about Shivani vs Aditi and Vik's reaction to both ladies. The way I understand (without thinking that Aditi was obviously the main lead) Shivani was too much like Vik. Their personalities clashed and not in a good way. When she started feeling the supernatural being Vik was not in a position to understand her or even support her in a way. He cared only about catching Vanraj. But Shivani died and then it hit him whatever she said was right, there are some things we do not understand. And Aditi stepped in. He was grieving and guilty and Aditi was his answer to every question. No wonder they bonded that fast, No Sirs or courtesy, never even a taunt about her being a low ranking IPS officer. And when Aditi was taken it was so sudden, unexpected and traumatic that it sent him straight to depression. His protectiveness has increased by years since she has returned- like last episode when they were in that haunted house (hotel?) She yelled for him and the way he ran, like bat out of hell😆😛 That episode where british officer shot his wife and Vik was possessed, him keeping in touch with her when he went out of station to help his Army friend's case, sharing each details, they came quite close. Come to think of it he always had interest in her- Girish and her adoption being other examples.
Coming to Vik's change of behavior, I am glad I am not the only one who found him irate, actually since the time he was in hospital. I felt that he was not taking being benched nicely, and obviously it's hard for a active guy like him to be on a bed with mind full of questions like if he was attacked by a ghost and some magical book brought him back to life (btw does he know about it?) but his sass and temper has increased tenfold since he is back to work. Like others pointed out, earlier Aditi would mention about supernatural being behind some case and he would at least look like he may be pondering over it, now he straight up tells her to think 'practically', which I find weird since he has also seen first hand these things exist. Either he is still bitter about Vanraaj getting slipped past his fingers or this is PTSD. Why else he would be like this now when he was not like this when he knew Shivani or Aditi came to his life? Something is up and I hope they explore it.
In the end, cliches are interesting in the show- light flickering means ghost coming and that 'Bhagwan tum dono ki jodi salamat rahe' in british ghost epi.😆
PS- Thank god they kept the ranking of ACP/ASP accurate as real life. No 20something officer becoming ACP, there is a proper ranking system⭐️😆
