Yes, Jiggly. He certainly isn't a righteous character. But that's CR's style of making his characters multi-dimensional instead of unidimensional and is highly commendable.

Btw, ACD did show up his human side in that engagement episode -- blind commitment to duty and bad judgement. Or did you think that was not very credible (I mean the blind commitment to duty was a bit too much?)

yes Bonheur, i think that is the only plus of cheyyar ravi. he gives his characters a lot more shades than the typical serial director.😊

the engagement episode irritated me to no end. actually i felt that the blind love ACD had for his duty was a little over the top.😕 i mean isn't he a police officer? he should have acted according to the situation instead of barging in recklessly & breaking the engagement.😭😭😭

Bon/Jiggs, in real police life, men like Shankar will be actually tranferred. This is because one, he shot Priyan without go ahead from ACD and two, Shankar have given cold shoulder to ACD although he is his superior. That is insubordination. No matter how much you hate your superior, you should give him the respect as his rank is higher than you. Thirdly, he was suspended but through court ruling Shankar made a comeback. He could be out for revenge and hamper ACD's investigations (if there is one 😉 ) esp if Shankar is on suspicion list.
