Analysis this week

I missed the Friday episode this time for the most of it.. Just could see it in parts as I was out of town... was greatly shocked again to see Anwesha in the bottom 3 and more shocked to see Prakriti being the highest vote gainer for the 2nd time... And last week, Prakriti had given the 2nd weakest performance... I think, she has also realized that she is being taken as a 'halka-phulka' singer by the judges, and hence attempted 'Dil cheez kya hai' on Friday.. She was good in some parts, but in others, she was exposed! Anwesha, as usual came out very well in 'Tumhaari adao pe main vari vari'... Could not watch any other action for the day... And I am sure, the elimination of Abeer would have left me very very sad on that day!

Saturday was the Retro Raat, and was indeed excited to see some great performances from the kids.. And was not dissapointed at all.. The opening performances were great and most of the kids did a great job with their individual performances...

The beginning was great with Anwesha deliverying another fab performance with 'Aao na gale lagao na;.. a very very tough song, and Anwesha almost got it right! Yes - Asha'ji had got in a lot more sensuality in the song, but a 14 year old of Anwesha's tonal quality and sober attitude still quite a fine job of it.. The song has very little breathing space and she never lost her breath.. Great going by her!

Prakriti played safe and chose a rather simple 'Merra naam Chin chin chu'.. The song suited her tonal quality, and she did a decent job of it! She did go flat in places, and if she indeed needs to win this talent war, its time that she pulls up her socks... If voting does take place for all the musical reasons, she may make her forst entry to scaryland next week!

I am not sure what went wrong with Jayant that he selected this song of Kishore.. 'Ek paisa do paisa' has no gayaki at all - probably he wanted to show that he can sing flat songs as well.. But then, at this stage of the contest when all are trying to outperform each other, he should have definitely chosen a better song... I see him in scaryland next week!

Aishwarya selected an extremely difficult song in 'Raat akeli hai' and gave one of the best performances of the day.. yes, she lost her breath at one instance, but then the overall impact of the song that she delivered was very very good... And hats off to this girl, that she accepted openly on stage that she was not her best today.. I think - this self judgement is going to take her a long long way... Way to go, girl!

For me, the best performance of the day came from Vyom... his 'Jaane jaa' was so so good.. I think, this guy has taken all the criticism in the very right spirit and is singing so so well these days... Wonder throw in the song, Khuli hui awaaz, and just the right feel! He just had given his best performance of the contest so far!

Areeb seems to the guy really going downhill in the contest... 'Dard-e-dil' is a great song, and I personally thought that he sang this one better than what he sang last week.. The reason, the judges went 'Uttam' with him is that they really wanted to give a wakeup call to this guy! Scaryland next week? Sure!

Sonya was sick and yet sang 'Solah baras ki baali umar' very very well... I wonder if she was ok, she would have probably hit a sixer with this song... She has a very fresh voice, and a particular genre of songs suits her so so well... I'm looking fwd to her getting well soon, so that we can listen to her singing to her complete potential in the next episode...

Overall - very enjoyable week.. Some great song selections by the kids on a lovely theme... A very clean episode with no family dramas... Some of the Basanti Veeru things was done over the top and not required! I still wish that the show focusses only on singing and curtails all the other non-required stuff.. We will enjoy it even more!

great analysis jaya...sure agree with u like always...vyom is improving by leaps n bounds...he was superb...thoroughly enjoyed his performance...and anwesha n aishwariya were like always awesome...well based on performances, i think bottom 3 shud be areeb, jayant and prakriti...but going by voting trends i think it will be areeb, jayant and anwesha/vyom ...most likely i think areeb will be going...pata nahin whts wrong with his voice...kitne time se he seems to be having soar throat...and i agree i didnt like jayant's song choice at all...and though soniya did well, i wish she wud have taken a lively song to suit the mood of that day...anyways overall enjoyed the show...and was nice to have alka in the show..though i cudnt help but notice her not interacting with shreya 😕
