This seems to be a bad week for Salil Ankola. He has been getting dropped from shows. Last reported, the actor allegedly arrived drunk on the sets of Karam Apna Apna. Now, the latest is that he has opted out of Jhalak Dikhhla Ja 2. Apparently the actor was roped in as the 12th contestant in Jhalak Dikhhla Ja 2. But now Synergy Communications, the production house, is upset with him and are looking to replace him.
The producers are contemplating replacing him with another cricketer. The show has participants from different professions participating in it, and is slotted to go on air this month.
When contacted Anita Kaul Basu, MD Synergy Communications, says, "We have been talking to several people whom we think can participate and Salil was one of the possible contestants, but we are yet to finalise everything. The channel will be in a better position to talk about it."
It all began when the cricketer-turned-actor did not turn up for the show's promo shoot. As a result, he is being dropped from the show right away. Says a source from the production house, "Talks are on with other players so that Salil can be replaced. He was unable to make it to the promo shoot of Jhalak dikhlaja 2 as he was unwell and doctors advised him rest. Though he is on medication and can't move around much, he went for his daily soap shoots, but did not turn up for the promo shoot."
However, getting another cricketer is not going to be easy, as most cricketers are busy playing in England. Hence, the production house and the channel do not have much choice. Apparently, it's heard that Vinod Kamble has been approached, but he seems to have date issues. The other 11 contestants have already been finalised for the show.
However, Salil has his own view on this issue. He says, "I have opted out of the show as I'm not comfortable dancing. Yes, it's true that I couldn't go for the promo shoot because I was unwell. I also have other work commitments, so couldn't fit the promo shoot of Jhalak… into my schedule."
Meanwhile, the final list of contestants include Ronit Roy, Jay Bhanushali, Mita Vasisht, Cyrus Broacha, Sonali Kulkarni, Prachi Desai, Sudha Chandran, Tapur Chatterji, Mini Mathur, Sandhya Mridul, Aadesh Srivastav. The search for the 12th contestant is on.
