Mirand and Toshi feel Lucknow's Harshit will bag Star VOI contest! |

Lucknow, August 24: They're walking the razor's edge of fame right now and it is that sliver of fate that keeps their destinies divided. One step at a time, edging closer every week to the final chalice that will take them that micron closer to victory. With just nine left in the fray, the Amul Star Voice of India finalists know now that one folly can be fatal, one move can spell magic. But as accolades sound out sharper on the ears and the drum beats boost the adrenalin to a new high, they find their own mantras to maintain equilibrium in this terra infirma of heady success. Standing tall, dwarfing his other two mates, Lucknow lad Harshit Saxena returns to his city engulfed in the warmth and support he draws from his fans and family. "I could only meet them for a brief while. I am looking forward to this evening when i will get time to spend with them. There's a programme in Rajajipuram, my locality, to felicitate me and then the concert in the evening. Then the first flight out tomorrow morning," his voice trails off |
As if conspirationally, he whispers, "I haven't slept a wink in four nights. What I wouldn't do to spend a night at home with my parents..." the burden of fame is already weighing heavy on his broad shoulders.
Beside him the diminutive Mirand, the Ahmedabad lass says she is sure Harshit will be the dark horse who will win the race. "When you take all of us contestants, he stands a league apart. His voice has that quality that the Bollywood playback world has been looking for since long. I have no doubts he will win," she nods affectionately. The call of fame for Toshi at least has not eclipsed the call of faith. For a long while he is nowhere on the scene having disappeared to offer Friday namaz at a mosque. He returns fill of apologies for keeping the media waiting. "My nanihal (mother's side) is from Etawah, so I guess you could say I also can stake a claim to this region. I hope the people will give us their unstinting support." Toshi too feels that Harshit is the best contender for the title from the remaining nine. "Lucknow has always given good performers. Take Vineet for instance. The only problem is people here have to be goaded to extend their support. That is why I am here and I am banking on support from my people as also the nation. While I have topped the public voting for the last two weeks, nobody can predict what will happen next. I feel Toshi, Irfan and Abhaas are the best bets," Harshit modestly refrains from adding his name to the top list."Your struggle in the playback world actually starts after the victory. After that it's your own luck and capabilities which take you places," Harshit remarked,"I am glad I bit the dust at talent hunts several times before I reached this stage. It has shaped me as a better singer and artist," he confesses.
