Sonya - Tanushree auditioned from from Kolkata - her main song in that round was not impressive but then she sang two lines of 'Ruke ruke se qadam' and it was awesome...

I also agree to your other observation on the 'Aao na gale lagaao na' song... Based on the standards that Sumitra had set earlier, it did not meet the expectations, but this rendition of hers was still lot better than Shrestha, Aisha and Meenal... The song is extremely difficult, and if one is not sure of doing it well - they should not sing such tough songs just for the heck of it!

I am also looking fwd to more such themes like Saturday... Really gives us the pleasure of listening to some great melodies...

I do agree Sonya that Sumitra was not awful. The thing is that she has shown us her capacity. After that to produce a kachcha performance was just disappointing. To her credit, I will say that she never slips up on sur or taal. That alone should park her in the top echelons of this competition. But she should push herself to polish the rendition beyond that point.

'Ruke ruke se qadam' is such a gorgeous song. I sometimes wonder if singers with voices like Sumitra's or Aditi's feel like they cannot attempt Lata Mangeshkar songs without imitating her voice, if only in falsetto. What do you think?
