Navi-Dimple as Agam-Nimrit Continued... (My Story, PART 9)
We start off from the point on one side Tej (in his uniform) and Agam are waiting near the dining area, for Nimrit and Sunita Aunty to come out. Tej is quite excited to let everyone know that he has booked a honeymoon package as per Sunita Aunty's advice, but at the same time does not know how Nimrit will react when he tells her about Amrit's accident.
As Nimrit and Sunita Aunty come out of the kitchen, Sunita Aunty holding a tray with tea and tea cups and Nimrit holding freshly made punjabi parathas with chutney, Agam sits at the table and asks Bandook to have a seat. Tej says he has to report for duty and can't wait for breakfast, so he'd rather just share his news and then leave.
Nimrit: Kya news hain Tej ji?
Tej: Woh maine Tai ji ke kehna par tum dono ke liye tickets book kar di hai.
Nimrit: Tickets?
Agam: Tickets? (They both say tickets at the same time and look at each other and smile).
Tej: (Thinks that at this rate he might be here forever so hurries up) Aakhir honeymoon ke bina nayi zindagi kaise shuru ho sakti hai?
Nimrit and Agam both feel shy and Sunita Aunty is really pleased. She thanks Tej and says she is blessed to have a nephew like him. While Agam and Nimrit start wondering about their honeymoon (the location doesn't really matter for either of them as just thinking about being with one another, away from everyone makes them feel giddy!). Sunita Aunty asks where they are going and Tej says he was recommended South India, so Bullet will be taking his wife to a hill-station down South for a couple of days, then they will explore a secluded beach for another couple of days and then spend the last three days in a houseboat. Sunita Aunty is really happy to hear this and says Agam and Nimrit should go shopping today as they have to leave tomorrow. Agam and Nimrit hear this, smile again and and again get lost in their own little world (while their signature tune plays in the background)!
Tej thinks he should just inform about Amrit's accident and leave as he needs to report for his duty and can't be late. He says he is sorry to interrupt in such a happy moment, but there's also some sad news. He says Amrit's had an accident. Nimrit is shocked to hear this and asks if she's okay? Tej says he can't give too many details as he'd be late for his work, but says she underwent surgery and is still unconscious. He says she can call up Rippan Aunty and get details from her. He says goodbye and leaves saying he hopes Bandook and Nimrit have a good time away in South India.
Nimrit is upset and goes to call her Mother and finds out exactly what had happened. Though she is thankful to Tej for helping her sister, she is worried and wants to go to the hospital. Her mother says its not much point waiting there, as Amrit is still unconscious. Sunita Aunty asks her not to worry as she will be with Rippan ji at all times and that she should go shopping with Agam if she still wishes to go for the honeymoon. Nimrit realizes that Sunita Aunty has spent her money to arrange this honeymoon for them, and Tej has spent his valuable time too, so doesn't want it all to go to waste.
Nimrit: Nahi Mummy ji, hum zaroor jayenge. (She thinks she can always call and get updates on how her Di is doing).
Agam: Nimrit ji, main janta hu ki aap pareshaan hain, aur agar aap nahi jana chahti to koi baat nahi. Hum baad main chale jayenge (as much as he wants to go away on the honeymoon with the love of his life, and does not want Amrit to ruin their lives yet again, he sees that Nimrit is a bit upset and thinks he wants to see her happy first and foremost. So he puts her happiness first and forgets about what he wants).
Nimrit: Nahi Agam ji, main Di se aaj hospital milne chali jaati hu aur phir hum dono kal nikal jayenge.
Agam: Toh theek hai, Varun bhi aaj raat apni shoot se wapas aa jayega, to Maa akeli nahi rahegi.
Nimrit: Lekin humein shopping jaane ki koi zaroorat nahi hai, waise bhi, humare paas to sab kuch hai, aur kya chahiye?
Agam: (Looks at her and smiles) Hmmm.
Sunita Aunty is not happy to hear this as she wants them to go get new clothes and other things they might need for their trip. She goes in to get some money and hands it over to Nimrit and says its shagun for the start of her new life. Nimrit refuses and says she cannot take this as she doesn't need it, and that Papaji will get angry. Sunita Aunty tells her that she sold off the jewellery she never used to wear, so this is all her own money, and that Papaji will never know. Nimrit still refuses, and Sunita Aunty says would she be refusing if her own Mother gave her anything, and Nimrit gently nods, so she says Nimrit is her daughter too. And whatever she gives her with love and affection, she should happily accept. So Nimrit takes the money and says they will go shopping after she's been to the hospital.
Nimrit is torn between the two worlds, on one hand is her Di sick in hospital and on the other hand is her future with her husband whose life so far has been nothing but a saga of sadness, misery and anger, all due to her very own Di. She realizes that she has always stood by her Di's side and maybe now its time to become a dutiful wife and stand by her husband's side. They all sit to have breakfast (as they know these days are short-lived, as once Papaji is back, they will not get to sit together). Once breakfast is done, Mummyji asks Agam to take Nimrit to the hospital.
Nimrit: Nahi Mummyji, main chali jaungi. (She knows Agam can't stand being around Amrit, so doesn't want to hurt him in any way by making him do things he wouldn't be happy with).
Agam: Are, aap akele kaise jaynegi? Chaliye, main aapko le chalta hu, aur phir humein shopping bhi to karni hai na?
Nimrit: (Looks at him and smiles) Ji.
They both go outside and Agam starts his bike. Nimrit sits behind him and hugs him. Agam is happy that Nimrit is not as worried and sad as he'd hoped she would be.
Nimrit: Agam ji, main bahut khush hi ki aap mere saath hospital chal rahe hain.
Agam: Aapko pata hai na ki main aapko dukhi nahi dekh sakta, to phir main aapko aise samay main akela kaise chod deta?
Nimrit: (Smiles and hugs him even more tightly than before, resting her head on his back) Aap mere baare main kitna sochte hain! Aur main hu ki... (she thinks she will try to always think about Agam's happiness first as he's always by her side no matter what).
They reach the hospital and walk in to see Amrit in her room. She is still unconscious, and Agam holds Nimrit's hand to lend his support. Nimrit is happy that Agam's there with her and is holding her hand, and walks closer to her Di when the doctor comes in for a check-up. She asks the doctor about her Di's condition, and the doctor says things could be a lot worse. Thankfully she was brought to the hospital on time, otherwise her blood loss and injuries would have made it difficult for her to survive. He says that she will take time to recover, and after such extensive surgeries, she will also take time to regain consciousness. But seeing that her heart rate and everything else is stable, the doctor says there is no major need to worry. Nimrit is relieved to hear this. The doctor also mentions that there is nothing they can do, and ideally should only come to visit her if necessary in order to reduce chances of external infection.
Nimrit understands and after praying briefly, she tells Agam she is ready to leave. She makes a quick call to her Mother and informs her that she's at the hospital with Agam ji and about to leave, and also informs about her honeymoon plans. Rippan Aunty is really happy to hear about the trip and tells Nimrit not to worry, that she will be here to look after Amrit. She tells her to think about her life first and foremost as that is her duty as a married woman now. Nimrit agrees. Agam, who is still holding on to her hand, puts his arm around her shoulders and they walk out of the hospital. They are about to go shopping when Nimrit says she doesn't really need more clothes, being a princess, she's never really worn anything but ethnic wear since she grew up, as much as she liked to see others in jeans and dresses.
Agam: Are, toh phir hm aapke liye zaroor kuch 'angrezi' kapde khareedenge.
Nimrit: Nahin Agam ji, bahut ajeeb lagega.
Agam: Are, ajeeb kyun lagega? Aap itni khoosurat hai, itni patli hai ki koi bi kapde aap par ajeeb nahi lag sakte.
Nimrit: (Gets a bit excited with the thought of wearing jeans and other clothes like regular people) Haa, aur waise bhi, ab toh main rajkumari to hu nahin, lekin hum sirf ek ya do kapde lenge. Phir main apne purane punjabi suits palace se le sakti hu.
Agam: Aap toh mere liye hamesha rajkumari hi rahengi, rajkumari Nimrit (Smiles at her while she frowns).
They both ride away on his bike once again and hit the shops in a mall.
Nimrit: Kyun na aap mere liye choose karein aur main aapke liye?
Agam: Haa, yeh theek hai, toh phir aap mujhe apni size bata dijiye.
Nimrit: Kya? Aap andaaza nahi laga sakte?
Agam: Hmm, laga sakta hu, lekin agar kuch gadbad ho gayi to?
Nimrit: Nahi hogi Agam ji! Main bhi to aapke liye guess kar hi lungi na?
Agam doesn't seem convinced, but says yes nevertheless. They both go in opposite directions, Nimrit in menswear, and Agam in womenswear. While Nimrit looks quite confident as to what she wants to buy for Agam, Agam looks super confused and a bit embarrassed in the womenswear department!
