Thanks for sharing. And to answer the question, I don't think it is Amita's carelessness that Fallu was ill. Because Amita offered to help, if Fallu had given her a little bit of confidence and boost Amita would have not messed things up. Besides, it is very common even in real life that MIL want to make themselves feel important and needed due to insecurities. So they do want to do things by themselves and complain that no one helps them.

It's so typical.
