Ramble away! 👏 I appreciate the insight.

It's too bad then that the shows are so reliant on the TRP's. Since everyone wants instant gratification, like you said, the writers are forced to quicken a story line to keep the ratings up. But to what end? The integrity of the story and then it becomes choppy and the flow is lost. Also understanding that they can go the other direction and drag out story lines which then become stagnant.

I watch Kumkum Bhagya as well and they certainly have dragged out some storylines. How many times has poor Pragya been kidnapped? Too many. But the viewers have such an emotional investment in her and Abhi and so they keep rooting for them!

It would be one thing if the viewers liked the story but on occasion grumbled about the lulls in the progression of the things and entirely different if no one liked the story line at all. If everyone hated the story, then it's understandable that they would pull it off the air. But it doesn't seem fair if a couple lulls in the story cause the whole ship to sink.

Real life is full of peaks and valleys and so you need time to recover from the pits of despair and the highs of euphoria. Even if you were reading a novel, you wouldn't be in a high speed car chase from beginning to end of the book. You want to be able to feel what these characters are feeling.

I wonder if the writers come onto these forums to see what the viewers are saying. Not just viewing the TRP numbers but actually reading what's being said.

So far ADDNK has done very well in capturing our attention with the characters and the twists have surprised us. The writers are trying to tell us a story so hopefully they will continue to do so for a long time.

But on a more somber note, I read somewhere that Prem will learn about her deceitful plan and dump her only for Teja to then realize that she loves him and can't live without him. But alas, it will be too late. The damage will have been done.

So we'll see if that little prediction comes true.

Oh really .. where have you read it .can you share the link for me to read too

I got it from this site. I know that Cat has mentioned that they aren't reliable but so far anytime I have read something there, it seems to be fairly true. For example, I read that Prem was going to earn his money for Teja by doing the dangerous arm wrestling and sure enough two or three days later, the episode aired and showed Prem arm wrestling and winning the money.

I'm in Canada and although I'm 12 hours behind India, the episodes are still aired the same day so it wasn't like the episode aired in India and then the site wrote about it as a spoiler. The "spoilers" or "upcoming twists" are usually written on the site a few days in advance of airing.

I also wrote, "So we'll see if that little prediction comes true." in the event that particular prediction from the site is not reliable. 😉

Sorry I missed this!

The thing about TRPs is that they usually reflect the opinions of middle aged women/mothers in India who are the main audience of the shows. So sometimes, the silliest of plots in a soap (like a supernatural track), or the most melodramatic plots (like a brideswap) will get higher TRPs than realistic tracks. You may have heard the term "TRP aunties" on IF, which refers to those women in India who make up the TRP.

Us young/international viewers who watch online and outside of India don't affect the TRP at all because it's only based on TV viewership in India.

ADDNK's TRP has not been great (usually around 0.7/0.8), but it's been consistent. It seems so far Zee TV is okay with the show, even though it's one of the less popular shows on the channel. But I do have a fear in the back of my mind that the channel may end the show if it doesn't attract viewers soon. Too bad they haven't been promoting the show much to attract viewers in the first place.

KKB, as far as I know, has been on for around 3 years (or however long its been going on) and Pragya and Abhi have yet to be reunited for good. But that's very common with their PH. In Ekta Kapoor shows, the lead pair will often spend more of their life apart than together. And the TRP aunties love that, so it gets high TRPs and the CVs continue to separate them for the sake of TRPs.
