CHAPTER - 14

[ Past ]

Ananya had already decided that she was going to agree to the proposal of Yash of marrying his mentally retarded son Akash and eventually informed him the same.Before her journey to Mumbai,one day,during the lunch break,Yash offered Ananya to come with him to his home.Ananya asked,"Sir main aapke ghar mein kaise ja sakti hu?"Yash replied,"Not a big problem!!After all tum is ghar ki bahu banne ja rahi ho,tumhaara haq banta hai ke tum apne hone waale sasuralwaalo se milo."Ananya corrected him,"Ye shaadi nehi sir mere liye ek sauda hai,apne gharwaalo ki madat karne ka.Itni formality ki koi zarurat nehi hai sir."Yash smiled and replied,"Ha to tumhe apne is saude ki puri keemat bhi milegi.Tumhe aur tumhaari family kisi kisam ki koi taklif nehi hogi.Tumhaare papa ka treatment sabse achche doctors se hogi aur tumhaare bhai ka business bhi settle kar diya jaayega,aur tumhe kya chahiye?"Ananya sarcastically smiled and replied,"Sab kuch to aapne mujhe de diya hai sir aur mujhe sach mein kuch nehi chahiye."Yash said,"Thik hai to phir chalo.Let's go!!"Even if she was not interested,but still Ananya had to go with him.

When she reached in front of the house,Yash showed her the house and said,"Ye hamaare yaha ka ek chota sa ghar hai.Hamaara asli ghar Mumbai mein hai to tum jaldi jaldi hamaare saath chalne ke liye tayyar ho jaao."Yash took her inside and then called everyone in the hall.Yash introduced Ananya to all and said,"Ye Ananya hai,Miss Ananya Rawat.Hamaare yaha ke office ki ek behtareen staff aur hamaare Akash ki hone waali biwi."Namrata liked Ananya because of her simplicity but when she heard that Ananya was going to be married off to Akash,she was hell shocked.She asked,"Yash tune isey bataya nehi ke hamaara Akash..."Yash replied,"Bataya hai ma,aap to jaanti hai ke main kisike saath dhokebaazi nehi karta hu.Isey sab kuch pata hai aur sab kuch jaanne ke baad hi ye raazi hui hai."Namrata was taken back.Naina looked at her in such a way as if Ananya was an insect and she asked Yash,"Yash aapko mere Akash ke liye aur koi ladki nehi mili jo isey utha kar le aaye?"Yash replied,"Main Akash ke liye ek aisi larki chahta tha jo uska dost bhi bane aur uska khayaal bhi rakkhe aur Ananya in sab ke liye perfect hai kyuki Akash to tumhe bilkul bhi pasand nehi karta hai."Just then,Akash arrived there with his toy and on seeing Ananya,he was very very happy and exclaimed,"Friend tum aa gayi??Achcha kiya jo tum aa gayi,dekho na mere saath khelne waala koi nehi hai.Tum mere saath khelogi na?"Ananya smiled and replied,"Main bhi to yaha tumhaare saath khelne hi aayi hu.Tum mujhe apna room nehi dikhaaoge?"Akash said,"Ha ha dikhaaunga na par pehle main sabse milwa du tumhe phir.Ye dekho..."He pointed at Namrata,"Ye meri best best best daadi hai.Ye mere saath khelti hai aur kahani bhi sunaati hai aur mujhe khaana bhi khilaati hai."He pointed at Naina and then squeezed his nose and replied,"Ye...ye gandi aunty hai,ye bohot gandi hai,hamesha mujhe daatti rehti hai,hamesha chillati hai.Mujhe ye bilkul pasand nehi hai,tum bhi na inse baat mat karna."Ananya said,"Akash ye to bohot gandi baat hai,tum good boy ho na?Apni mamma ko koi gandi aunty bolta hai?Chalo sorry bolo."Akash angrily nodded his head and then replied,"Nehi main sorry nehi kahunga aur ye meri mamma nehi hai.Meri mamma na bhagwaan ke paas chali gayi hai aur daadi kehti hai ke vo abhi star ban gayi hai.Ye to meri step mamma hai aur Cinderella ki story ke tarah ye bhi mujhe pareshaan karti hai,isiliye main inse hamesha katti hu."Akash then said to her,"Chalo chalo main tumhe apne saare toys ke saath milvaaunga aur maine kaha tha na ke mere paas tumhaare liye ek gift hai,vo bhi dkhaaunga.Chalo chalo tum mere saath."Saying he took Ananya away from there.

While Ananya was playing with Akash,Namrata came to their room and said to Akash,"Akash beta dekho kitna din chad gaya hai aur abhi tak tumne nahaya bhi nehi hai.Chalo jaao jaakar nahalo."Akash nodded his head and then replied,"Nehi main nehi nahaaunga.Main abhi Ananya friend ke saath khelunga."Ananya replied,"Par mujhe to ye pata hai ke Akash to bohot good boy hai aur good boys hamesha time par sab kuch karte hai.Hai na?"Akash agreed and she then said,"Thik hai main jaaunga par...par tum...tum chali to nehi jaaogi na?"She nodded her head and replied,"Nehi main kahi nehi jaaungi tumse bina miley,tum araam se nahakar aao."Akash happily left to take bath.Namrata directly asked Ananya,"Tumne Akash se shaadi karne ko ha kyu kiya?"Ananya looked at her but didn't reply.She again said,"Tumhe dekh kar hi mujhe samajh mein aa gaya tha ke tum ek achche ghar ki pari likhi ladki ho.Phir sab kuch janne ke baad bhi tum jaisi ladki ne Akash jaise insaan se shaadi karne ko ha kyu kiya?"Ananya had tears in her eyes and she just asked,"Aapko kya lagta hai?"Namrata remained silent for some time and looked closely at Ananya.She then said,"Main samajh gayi.Yash ne tumhaari kisi majburi ka faayda uthaya hai na?Main jaanti thi,mera beta apni man ki karne ke liye kisi bhi hadh tak ja sakta hai aur yaha to baat Akash ki hai.Akash is purey jaaydaat mein aadhe jaaydaat ka waaris hai aur ye saara business bhi usika hai."Ananya slowly replied,"Mere papa ke dil ka operation karwaana hai,uske liye bohot saare paise chahiye aur upar se mere bhaiya ka business bhi doob gaya hai aur ghar bhi girwi hai.Mere paas aur koi chaara nehi hai.Isse mere saare problems solve ho jaayenge."Namrata just put her hand on Ananya's head and at that moment Akash returned.On seeing him,Ananya quickly wiped her tears.She then asked,"Achcha Akash tumne to kaha tha ke tumhaare paas mere liye ek gift hai?"He replied,"Ha hai na."He walked towards his bed and picked up the pillow and gave her a paper.Ananya found that it was a beautiful painting of her.She was very happy on seeing that and so she said,"Akash ye to sach mein bohot beautiful hai.Tumne banaya?"He replied,"Ha maine banaya,tumhe pasand aaya na to bas thik hai."Namrata said,"Mera Akash ek bohot achcha painter hai.Vo kisi ki bhi painting ek baar dekh kar hi bana sakta hai."Ananya said,"Main isey hamesha apne paas rakkhungi.Achcha ab main chalti hu."Akash was excited and he said,"Tum ja rahi ho?Tum chali gayi to mere saath khelega kaun?Nehi tum mat jaao please."He folded his lips and made a crying face.She explained him,"Dekho Akash jaise tumhaare paas tumhaari daadi hai,papa hai vaise mere ghar mein bhi to bohot saare log hai.Agar main ghar nehi jaaungi to vo log bhi to royenge na.Par tum fikar mat karo,main tumse kisi aur din milne aaungi."Akash said,"Nehi nehi,tum mujhse promise karo ke tum mujhse roz milne aaogi,roz mere saath aakar khelogi tabhi main tumhe jaane dunga."At that moment,Yash came to their room and replied,"Tum fikar mat karo Akash beta,kuch dino baad tumhaari friend hamesha ke liye tumhaare paas rehne aa jaayegi aur phir kabhi nehi jaayegi.Jab hum Mumbai waapas jaayenge na tab ye bhi hamaare saath waha jaayegi.Par abhi usey ghar jaana hoga varna vo packing kaise karegi?"Akash started clapping and jumping out of excitement and then said,"Sach mein papa ye hamaare saath rahegi?Tab to kitna maza aayega hum din bhar khelenge aur phir itni masti karenge.Thik hai Ananya tum jaldi jaldi ghar jaao aur packing karo.Bye."Ananya smiled and bid bye to Akash and then left with Yash.

Ananya returned home in the evening after office.On seeing her,Vidhi said,"Aa gayi tu achcha hai.Tu yaha beth main tere liye chaay bana kar laati hu.Achcha vaise tere Mumbai jaane ka kya hua?"Ananya replied,"Ha tayyari chal rahi hai kuch hi dino mein jaana parega."Vidhi asked,"Papa ko bataya?"Ananya replied,"Ha batana parega.Dekhte hai abhi vo maante hai ya nehi."When Ananya told that to her father,he simply disagreed to her proposal.But Ananya asked,"Par papa isme problem kya hai?"Ranjit replied,"Dekh beta tune kaam karna chaha maine tujhe karne diya par ab itni dur bilkul bhi nehi.Arey ghar ke mardo ke rehte huye beti jaakar bahaar kaam karegi to ye to hamaare liye doob marne jaisi baat hai.Tu yaha rehkar jo karna hai kar par itni dur nehi."She said,"Par papa dekhiye na mere boss mera kaam dekh kar mujhe kitni bari tarakki de rahe hai aur phir ek do saal ki hi to baat hai,uske baad to main yahi aa jaaungi na aur phir aapka operation baaki hai,ghar girvi hai aur bhaiya ka bhi business...Ek baar sab thik ho jaaye main waada karti hu main naukri chor dungi aur aap jaisa kahenge vaisa hi karungi."He was still adamant in his decision and said,"Nehi Ananya akeli larki ko main itni dur nehi bhejunga aur phir waha jaakar tu rahegi bhi kaha."She replied,"Papa aap fikar mat kijiye,office se mujhe flat milega,mujhe rehne mein koi dikkat nehi hogi aur kuch hi dino mein sabse jaan pehchaan to ho hi jaayegi na."Ranjit was still not ready to let her go but finally Ananya was able to persuade him.

Finally,the day arrived when Ananya had to leave for Mumbai,for an uncertain future.The night before departing to Mumbai,Ananya could not sleep properly and everytime she was thinking what would happen to her and her family as she was going to play the biggest gamble of her life with her life.Everyone were teary eyed while she was leaving and Ananya herself was not able to control her emotions but she had to be cruel to herself and leave them.On reaching Akash's house,Yash said,"Achcha hua ke tum jaldi hi aa gayi.Mumbai jaane se pehle main ye chahta hu ke tumhaare aur Akash ki shaadi abhi ho jaaye taaki waha jaakar tumhaara seedha greh pravesh ho sakey."Ananya was shocked and asked,"Itni jaldi sir?"He replied,"Ha main jaanta hu par aaj shaadi ho ya Mumbai pohochne ke baad,shaadi to honi hi hai.Maine registrar ko bhi bulwa liya hai,chalo jaldi karo hume flight bhi pakarni hai."The registrar gave Ananya the papers and asked Akash to sign on them.He looked at his father and asked,"Yaha par sign kyu karte hai papa?"Yash replied,"Beta tum chahte ho na ke Ananya hamesha tumhaare saath rahe,to ispe sign kar dene se vo hamesha tumhaare saath rahegi."He was so happy on hearing that,that he started clapping his hands and then signed the papers.The registrar then gave away the papers to Ananya and asked her to sign it.Akash said,"Karo karo friend sign karo phir hum dono ek saath rahenge."Ananya was dying to tear off the paper but she was unable to do that.She picked up the pen with great difficulty and her hand was shaking while giving signatures.Akash was irresistible and said,"Karo sign friend jaldi jaldi."At last,Ananya signed the papers and returned it to the registrar.After checking the papers,the registrar took signs from Yash,Namrata,Naina and others as the witnesses.After that the registrar announces Akash and Ananya to be legally husband and wife.Yash then congratulates Akash and then he said,"Congratulation beta ab se Ananya hamesha tumhaare saath rahegi.Vo kabhi tumhe chor kar nehi jaayegi."Akash started dancing on hearing the news and out of excitement he hugged Ananya and said,"Dekha friend mere papa kitne achche hai.Vo le aaye tumhe mere paas hamesha ke liye ab hum dono hamesha saath rahenge."Ananya tried to smile and then Yash asked everyone to proceed for the airport.Akash held Ananya's hand tightly and then picked up his toy and then went to the car.All the way upto the airport,he held Ananya's hand like a kid and even in the flight,he was holding her hand.Everyone were happy on their victory but Ananya,she was shedding silent tears as she has won everything by loosing everything.

CHAPTER - 15

[ PRESENT ]

While returning home,Rohit and Natasha both were confused.She asked,"Rohit kya tumhe bhi vohi lag raha hai jo mujhe lag raha hai?"Rohit replied,"Ha bilkul,par maine kabhi nehi socha tha ke zindagi mein ye bhi dekhne ko milega,kyuki aam taur par to aisa hota nehi hai na."Natasha said,"Right!!Maine bhi nehi socha tha."Rohit said,"Zyaadatar cases mein husbands ka na extra marital affair hota hai,par is case mein to husband ko apni hi wife se love shove ho gaya hai."Natasha smiled and replied,"Ha kitna pyar hai na dono mein.Anu ke baare mein to jiju ko kuch bhi yaad nehi hai par dekho to phir bhi kitna pyar hai dono mein."Rohit said,"Ya exactly!!Annie ko na sab bata dena chahiye usko.Paakhi ko bhi to thora time chahiye na apne dad ke saath milne julne ka."Rohit agreed.On the other side,while going to office,Akash sadly said,"Maine kabhi socha bhi nehi tha ke Mrs Ananya ke saath itni bari tragedy hui hai bichaari.Itni bhali aurat ke saath aisa koi kaise kar sakta hai,par ha she is strong.Apni beti ko akele bara kar rahi hai and bichaari Paakhi,usne apne father ka chehra tak nehi dekha hai.Tabhi main sochu vo bachchi mere saath aise bartaav kyu karti hai."Rahul replied,"Such a sad story!!Tune sahi kaha unhe dusri shaadi kar leni chahiye,aakhir pahar jaisi zindagi hai akele kaise bitaayegi."Akash said,"Ha ye to hai.Kitni shaant aur suljhi hui aurat hai,kaash inki shaadi na hui hoti aur vo meri zindagi mein pehle aati,to you never know vo Mrs Akash Saluja hoti aur Paakhi meri beti hoti."Rahul muttered,"Vo Mrs Akash Saluja hi hai aur Paakhi bhi teri hi beti hai."Akash asked,"Kuch kaha tune?"Rahul replied,"Nehi!!Bas main ye soch raha tha ke abhi bhi zyaada der nehi hui hai.Ananyaji young hai beautiful hai,bachchi hi to kya hua.Par ha teri bhi problem hai,teri baat to already Viraj ki behen ke saath chal raha hai na.I can understand."Akash angrily replied,"Zindagi meri hai,vo log kaun hote hai ye faisla karne waale ki meri shaadi kiske saath hogi aur kiske saath nehi.Dad ne to mere baare mein socha bhi nehi tha dusri shaadi karne se pehle,unko to ye dikhta bhi nehi hai ke Mrs Saluja sirf unki property mein interested hai,to phir main unke baare mein kyu sochu?Mere dil mein jo aayega main vohi karunga."Just then Akash saw something and asked the driver to stop the car.Rahul asked,"Kya hua?"Akash pointed towards something and replied,"Vo Paakhi hai na?Dekh wahapar khari hai."Rahul saw it was really Paakhi who was standing on the other side of the road.Akash asked Rahul to wait for him as he would return in a moment.He crossed the road and reached upto Paakhi.She was surprised on seeing him and was really upset too.He said,"Hi!!Tum yaha akeli main road par kya kar rahi ho?"She replied,"Main strangers se baat nehi karti.Mom warned me."He said,"Well!!Main to tumhaare liye utna bhi stranger nehi hu.I mean I helped you,we met quite sometime."Paakhi replied,"Mujhe aapse baat nehi karni hai,aapko ye simple si baat samajh mein nehi aati hai?"Akash said,"Ok cool!!"Paakhi tried to cross the road but she couldn't as the cars were passing too fast.Akash asked,"Are you trying to cross the road?"Paakhi turned her face away from him.Akash proposed,"Well agar tum kaho then I can help you.By the way where is your mom?"Paakhi replied,"Mom aaj busy hai,dad ne kaha tha vo mujhe pick up karenge but he didn't come yet aur parking allowed nehi hai,so I just want to check whether he came or not.He might be waiting for me on the other side of the road.Par mujhe road cross karne mein bohot dar lagta hai,aisa lagta hai abhi mera accident ho jaayega."Akash said,"You can trust me for once if you wish to.Yaha par jitney bhi log hai vo to mujhse bhi zyaada strangers hai aur jaise ke tumhaare mom ne kaha tumhe strangers se baat nehi karni chahiye to...now you decide."Paakhi thought for sometime and also realized that he was better than those strangers around her.So she agreed to his proposal and held his hand to cross the road.While Akash was showing his hands to the cars to stop,suddenly a car with a bunch of rowdy moved so fast in front of him,that Akash had a flashback in front of his eyes that he screamed in the middle of the road.In order to save himself,he just moved backwards alongwith Paakhi with a force and his head hit hard on a light post.Everything started rotating in front of his eyes and he fall on the road unconscious.Rahul who was watching everything sitting in the car,came out and ran on the road.Paakhi was highly panicked and many people gathered around them.She started calling Akash and then only Rahul arrived to them.On seeing Rahul,she said,"Ek car ne unko push kiya aur ye gir gaye.Please unko jaldi hospital lekar chalo."Rahul said to her,"Don't worry beta come with me."By that time,the police already had called the ambulance and it took Akash,Rahul and Paakhi to the nearby hospital.

After reaching hospital,the doctor checked the patient and then informed that Akash needed a minor surgery and so a form needed to be signed.Rahul took the form and was about to sign but then thought of Paakhi.Paakhi was sitting and crying and he thought of consoling her.Paakhi said,"Maine kuch nehi kiya uncle,Akash Saluja khud aaye the mere paas."Rahul smiled and replied,"Main jaanta hu ke aapne kuch nehi kiya hai,after all aap apne papa ke saath aisa kaise kar sakti hai.Par is tarah se papa ka naam lekar bulaana bhi to sahi nehi hai."Paakhi was astonished and looked at him and asked,"Aapko kaise pata??You know my mom?"He replied,"Ha bilkul main dono ka friend hu.Abhi ek problem ho gayi hai,papa ka ek minor sa surgery karwana hoga aur uske liye is paper mein relative ka sign chahiye.Ab yaha to tumhaare mom ke alava unka koi nehi hai,to tumhe apni mom ko call karna parega aur yaha bulaana parega.Will you do that for me?"Paakhi nodded her head and then immediately called Ananya in the hospital.

Ananya came running like a mad in the hospital.She got hold of Rahul and asked,"Kaha hai Akash??Kaise hua uska accident?"Rahul told her everything and then said,"Vo to achcha hua ke jald se jald hum usey hospital le aaye abhi minor operation karna hai and uske liye family member ka sign chahiye."Without thinking Ananya went to the staffs and asked about the patient.The staff gave her the formality paper and Ananya signed on it and then said,"Please save my husband at any cost!!"The staffs assured her and then left for preparing for the operation.While Akash was being operated,Rahul had a chat with Paakhi.He asked,"Aap apne papa ko itna hate kyu karti ho?"Paakhi replied,"Unhone mujhe aur meri mom ko akela chor diya.Kabhi hume dhundhne ki koshish bhi nehi ki,ek phone bhi nehi kiya,kuch bhi nehi.Vo humse pyar nehi karte hai and thats why I hate him aur vo mere dad nehi hai.Mere dad ka naam Rohit Mafatlal hai."Rahul held her hand and said,"Aisa nehi hai you know aapke dad ko agar pata hota ke unke paas itni cute beti hai,you know vo sab kuch chor kar aapke paas chale aate.Thats your dad and I know him when we were in college.Problem ye hai ke vo aapke aur aapke mom ke paas tab aate jab unko aap dono ke baare mein pata hota.He doesn't know about you."Paakhi asked,"Aisa kaise ho sakta hai?Aap hi kehte hai na ke vo mere dad hai to unhe kaise mere baare mein kuch bhi yaad nehi rahega.Thats absurd,meri buanani aur nanu kehte hai ke unhone meri mom ko cheat kiya hai and thats why I hate him so much."Rahul was about to tell Paakhi the truth when Ananya stopped him in the middle and asked him to be quiet.After an hour,the doctor came out of OT and informed that Akash was out of danger and he would return to his senses within an hour or two.Ananya,Rahul and Paakhi were relieved on hearing that and Paakhi asked Ananya that they should go home.Ananya said,"Baby main driver se keh dungi tum ghar chali jaao,main yehi rahungi,tumhaare dad ke paas."Paakhi disagreed and replied,"No aap mere saath chalogi.I won't let you stay with him,he'll take you away from me."Ananya said,"Paakhi beta dad ke paas abhi koi nehi hai,aise mein main unko chor kar kaise ja sakti hu?Samajhne ki koshish karo."Paakhi was not ready to listen and was only arguing with her mother.At last,Rahul intervened and asked Ananya to return home and he will stay here in the hospital with Akash and he would inform her when he gets consciousness back.So Ananya had to leave from there.

In the evening,when Akash got his senses back,Rahul called Ananya and informed her about it.Ananya immediately reached the hospital to meet him.On getting inside his room,she found him talking with Rahul and the nurse was checking his pulses.The nurse said,"Mr Saluja you are absolutely fine and Mrs Saluja tomorrow you will be able to take your husband back home."Akash with a lot of suprise looked at Ananya and Rahul replied,"Vo tere accident ki khabar sunkar vo bhaagi bhaagi chali aayi aur tera to operation karna tha to usi vajah se inhone papers par teri wife bankar sign kiya kyuki inka aur tera sirname same hai na isiliye."Ananya immediately said,"Vo mujhe pata chala ke Paakhi bhi aapke saath thi aur aapki ye haalat ho gayi.Chot Paakhi ko bhi lag sakti thi aur aapne uski madat bhi karne ki koshish ki to main itna to aapke liye kar hi sakti hu Mr Saluja."Akash was surprised as well as amused thinking Ananya acted as his wife to save his life.Somewhere he was very happy and said,"Thank you,meri jaan bachaane ke liye.I hope Paakhi is alright."Ananya nodded her head and then said,"You should be more careful while crossing the road.Vo to achcha hua ke aapko zyaada chot nehi aayi."Akash slowly got up and sat on the bed.Ananya tried to stop him but he didn't listen and got up.Akash said,"Minor si surgery hui hai,nothing to worry.Mujhe bilkul bhi taklif nehi ho rahi hai,aap bethiye na please."Rahul sat on the bed and Ananya on the stool.Akash said,"Iam sorry mujhe pata chala hai ke aapke saath kya hua hai."She was confused and looked at him and he said,"Vo aaj dupeher ko mall mein aapki sister and unke husband ke saath baat hui thi,unhone bataya aapke baare mein."Ananya was hell shocked like anything and so worried thinking Natasha and Rohit might have told him the truth.She was scared and asked,"K-k-kya...kya kaha un-un-unhone?"Akash replied,"Yehi ke aapke husband ka naam Siddhant Saluja tha and he left you while you conceived and thats why Paakhi probably Saluja's ko hate karti hai."Ananya gave a deep sigh of relief and then said,"Ji...ji..."She lowered her head and Akash said,"Iam sorry aur mujhe kehna bhi nehi chahiye but aisa aadmi aapko deserve nehi karta hai,you should move on.You are still young aur..."Ananya got up and said,"Main chalti hu,agar Paakhi ko pata chala to gussa karegi."She turned to leave and then again he turned towards him and said,"Main apne husband se bohot pyar karti hu ur main unke alava kisi aur ke baare mein soch bhi nehi sakti hu.Thanks for your concern."Saying she walked out and then Rahul followed her.On getting out,he tried to say something but Ananya said,"Ab aur koi baat nehi Rahul.Meri baat dhyaan se suno,agar tumhe Akash ki thori si bhi parwa hai,agar tumhe uski zindagi chahiye to agle do teen din mein hi usey lekar India waapas chale jaao,please request hai ye meri.Main aur kuch nehi sunna chahti hu tumse.Tumhe Akash ke dosti aur uski jaan ka waasta hai."Before Rahul could say something,Ananya left from there.
