Throughout the show we have seen Loha Singh as some sort of aberration. He bears no love for any member of his family. The least of which is Sumitra. He does not love her or even respect her. In Loha's mind as long as she keeps her mouth shut and does what she's told like a "good little wife" their marriage works. He knows how to manipulate her into submission. We've often seen him twist her arm so that it causes so much pain to his wife that she is willed into compliance even if that is not what she wants to do. He belittles her, hides things from her and has never seen her as his equal.
Their marriage is so much like the marriage of Ranvijay who also abuses Baksarvalli slaps her around, pushes her to the ground and verbally abuses her. He has the same mean streak his father has towards women.
We are now seeing that meanness manifest itself in Shekhar who has taken it a step further than both his brother and his dad by pointing a gun at his pregnant wife and even shooting at her feet. The Thakur men need a chill pill and fast. Their women need to speak up. Especially Laali who silence makes Shekhar even more convinced of the fact that she killed his Ratna. But she respects and cares for Sumitra too much to reveal anything to anyone. This allegiance comes at a very high price for Laali now that she's is homeless and alone.
