Shekhar loves Siddheswari or at least thinks he does. But love is not physical or a superficial emotional thing, Love is seen when times are hard and when emotions are knocked everywhich way. - which is what is happening with Shekhar - his emotions have been rocked - his idyllic life of painting, playing the flute and playful flings with his wife is ROCKED. Reality of life is setting in - his responsibilities to his wife, his family etc - they are all now splitting his emotions apart. This is the time he needs emotional support from his wife - but is he getting it?
Laali mistook Shekhar from day1 to be Ganesiya. Ganesiya, whom she was married to but not lived with, was just a thought in her mind, a dream figure. She does not recall him in anyway - he is just a thought in her head - someone she dreamed about and had imaginery conversations with. When Laali saw Shekhar thinking he was Ganesiya, she liked what she saw. She took him as her husband in her head - this time she has a person in her head, a living real person, not an illusory figure. She already at that point in time dedicated her life to this person (name is irrelevant) - it is this person that she cared for.
Subsequently she made the decision to return to the haveli because that was the first thought that she had when she prayed for guidance - the haveli and Shekar (the person -not a figment of a dream). With subsequent events, with Shekar saving her fingers - she pleged her live to him. But this is because she loves him, it is not just mere gratefulness.
Further, Laali in all her gratefulness to Shekhar for his little acts of kindness, has overlooked that she had equally, if not more, saved Shekar on more than one occasion - removing the gun from his head, saving him from the water. Because of her love for Shekhar, i believe she would be willing to leave him BUT would Shekhar want that in the future?
I believe Shekhar's love for his wife is fairly badly shaken. He is now probably questioning what love is all about. He is probably rethinking love.
just some food for thought. :)
btw I am for Shekhar-Laali union!! :) :)
