What bothers me are the superstitions ... 😊
The other day, Kaushalya firmly believed that Shekhar had the accident because the thread which Siddheshwari used to tie around the sacred banyan tree broke.
Why do the soaps make people so vulnerable, so weak ? Why do they force people to attach a reason for every innocent incident? Things fall and break (courtesy of gravity). So how is the falling and breaking of things related to our lives?
Now and then, most of us indulge in superstitious thinking. I have friends who carry an object or wear an item of clothing because they think that these items are lucky.
It is true that wearing a "lucky" item gives us a sense of security and confidence. And the *belief* that the item will bring good luck is a very powerful motivator. But where do we draw the line?
Certain personalities are "weaker" than others. Are these soaps spreading a neurosis so vulnerable people become more and more superstitious and the business of priests, fortune-tellers, astrologers, numerologists etc. flourish? Come to think of it, not a bad idea. Every expenditure contributes to the economy ... and if people are willing to be gullible and waste their money, why should we object ?? 😉
