Episode 2 Simi Hit and Run Victim?
Abhi looks back to find simi missing. He was wondering who that lady was he gave ride too and why she left without saying anything? Then he says: I did what mom said. But she surely looked pretty even though she was overweight. I liked her child like face and simplicity. I wish I had my camera with me. She would make a good subject for my pictures. I hope I get to meet her again. Matarani.
Simi is seating in the rickshaw thinking about dream and the burgundy jeep and her prince charming. She is thinking: today I saw a dream and I ran into burgundy jeep. But the guy in jeep looked and dressed like a grown up kid. What was that superman T shirt and black faded jeans with white belt and red shoes. But he did look cute and handsome. Simi is talking to herself: . Simi judging on others for their dressing style dear. Take a one good looks at yourself. You don't exactly make a fashion statement the way you dress your self. Mom is always after you because your dressing style is horrible. That is why mom is always angry with you. Simi says: what is wrong with mom? Why she has to scold me furst thing in morning? About how I look and no one wants to marry me?. I need to have a talk with her and let her know I am not marrying any one she finds for me. Every time she fixes this for me to get humiliated by one more man. Do I really care? Heck no. I just want to marry some one I find and I like. I will marry some one who I fall in love with , who is very intelligent smart and with good heart.. I will marry some one who likes me just the way I am and does not judge on size or skin color. I want some one who can look in my soul and appreciate my inner beauty. I need to talk with mom and tell her once and for all that I will find my own man. If I can't I will stay unmarried. Mom needs to understand I am a independent woman I do not have to rely on man or marry some one , I do not approve of. I will tell her tonight that she needs to stop fixing rishtas for me. She can't keep on hurting me or parading me in front of strangers.
Simi is again thinking about stranger she met and burgundy jeep/ She says to herself. He looked cool nice, and he offered me ride too. Otherwise he could have gone after asking direction. I am not a so call perfect looking beautiful girls these boys go after. So this guy seems very nice. Oh no! simi you messed up again. You sat with him and he saved you from a walk, when you were running late. And you forgot to thank him/ Simi you should have waited till he finished praying. How could you be so manner less? What must he be thingking about me? Oh gosh now what do I do? Where do I find and thank him? Matarani what is happening with my brain today? First I meet him and then you put my hand in his and make me forget about thanking him. Please Matarani ek baar mujhe use mila dena. Taki mai uska shukriya. Rikshaw stops Simi gets down she is busy whole day since it a first day. But her mind is preoccupied with her dream, burgundy jeep and the stranger. She decides to go home early and work at home.
Then she changes her mind and decides to meet Mrs. Saxena about her project. She stops rickshaw at Delhi university. And meets Mrs Saxena. She complains about needing help to proceed with her project. Mrs. Saxena asks her to meet her in the classroom after 30 minutes. Simi gets out of the building and walks towards library. She see a burgundy jeep parked outside the library. She waits for few minutes and walks in the library to look for stranger. As she is in the other corner. She spots him going out. She walks after him but before she reaches him. Burgundy jeep goes away. Simi is disappointed As the bell rings simi goes to Mrs Saxena they walk together to her classroom.
Abhi after having so many classes decides to bunk last class. He checks out few books and sees the same lady he met in the morning passes by. He then gets out and drives away.. But then he changes his mind looking at the watch and hurries back as he does not want to be late for class. He makes it to the class in time as no instructor is in yet. He seats in the class looking around wondering where is the professor?
Mrs Saxena arrives with Simi. Abhi is shocked to see Simi and wonders who the professor is ? He is hoping the professor should not be the one who he met this morning. Abhi says: she can not be as I heard mrs. Saxena is an old lady. So she can't be. Mrs saxena starts addressing the class introducing herself and talks about the class and what will they covering. She then introduce Simi as her student who is working on a project with her. She asks Simi to take a seat along with rest of the class. As simi is walking she is happy to spot a stranger with super man T shirt. She is very happy that finally she found him and gives him a smile. Abhi smiles back. Abhi notices Simi looks even better smiling. Simi stays in the class taking care of her papers to be distributed later,
Almost at the end of the class Mrs. S talks about the Master thesis and research paper, which is a requirement to graduate. She adds: I know it is too soon and you have whole year. But then it is never too early to think about graduation. We have some options regarding your thesis or research paper. Ms. Sethi and I are involved in a research that is benefiting our city, university and our students. A huge research project that I am involved in and Ms. Sethi is leading the project under me which will earn her PH.D . We need a lot of help with it. This project will not only earn you the credits you need , but some pocket money too and can take place of your thesis or research paper.. We need 5-7 volunteers for this. For now Ms. Sethi will lead you . But then we will choose one of you to lead the project that you are doing. Then the leader will meet with us to get things approved and the progress. You have 15 days to decide, Paper work, the main idea and what we need will be given shortly. If we have more volunteer we choose among them. She asks simi to distribute papers.
Simi distribute papers. As she approaches Abhi, she thanks him Abhi smiles. Simi goes back to her seat. Every one is looking at the papers. After 10 minutes. Mrs. S ask: So what do you think? Do I have any volunteers?
Abhi raises his hand. Mrs. S asks him to get up and introduce himself. She asks: are you a new student? I have never seen you around? Why did you select this project?
Abhi replies: yes I am . My name is Abhinav Tarneja. This is my first day in Delhi university . I have transferred from IIM ahmedabad because of some family situation and now plan to complete my Study here. I very much like to be part of this project as it is very interesting and appealing. Whatever knowledge I acquire from it will definitely benefit my dad's business. So I am in.
Mrs. S says: wow interesting, IIM ahmedabad student here. And I like your honesty and reply. You are in. Abhi is delighted. Simi is also happy she will get to work with some one she knows. Mrs S asks : any more volunteers? Some students say we are interested but we need time to think about it. Mrs. S says: who ever decides can notify me as you have 15 days. The class ends now. Simi leaves the classroom. Abhi meets Mrs S and asks more about project. She says: Simi will let you know . You can discuss with her. If you have more questions after talking to her, you can always come to me .
Abhi is excited and heads to the library. Simi is already in the library looking for some books. They area across from each other and unaware. Simi tries to pick up a same book Abhi is about to get. Abhi again ends up holding her hand. Simi is shocked as she sees abhi across from the open self. Abhi takes his hand away and says Sorry,
Simi smiles and says: It is ok. Why do we keep running into each other today? Abhinav right? Wow you are from IIM . amazing. We are glad to have you here. What a small world. This morning I was not even aware that we will end up as a student in same university with same professor and will start working together on the same project. It will be my pleasure to be working with you. I am sure you must be very bright. I am really excited. BTW thanks for the ride again. Go ahead you can have that book. What I liked most about you that You exactly know what to do. I will see you around.
Abhi says: ms Sethi can I call you that? You can have the book.
Simi replies: No I already have books. Go ahead that is an interesting book. Simi tries to carry the books she got. Abhi says: let me help you. Abhi helps her. They check out the books. He is carrying her books and walks out with her.
They are talking about project. They passes abhi;s jeep. Abhi says: Ms sethi, if you don't mind I can drop you home. Simi says: thanks abhinav. But I am used to carrying books and I will get rickshaw. Abhi says: The temple we went this morning comes in my way. Why don't I drop you there. So you don't have to wait for rickshaw here. And plz call me abhi.
Simi is puzzled but replies: ok thanks abhi. I will go with you. I like your burgundy jeep. Simi is shocked about what she said. Abhi smiles as he puts her books in the back seat. They both seat and drive away. In the jeep they discuss about their project. Simi is impressed with abhi and his deep thinking.
She praises him saying: abhi it will be fun working with you. BTW I am a professor myself. Though I don't work in Delhi university. After my Mcom I took a break and worked else where as I needed to work. But then I decided to go back for further study. Continung my job. I have been working for last 5 years and I can pretty much tell about a student from my experience. I am very happy to meet you and I will have so much fun working with you. and I am sure I learn a lot from you. You have a very pleasant likable personality. I am sure girls must be running after you. Simi jokes
Abhi says: Ms sethi plz do not praise me so much. I am an ordinary guy. Yes I have few friends who happens to be girls. But no girlfriend yet. I do not like those superficial types who looks in the mirror whole day put on tonnes of make up and looks like some cheap you know what I mean. I rather have a friend like you who is naturally beautiful and don't care about all those artificial layers to make them look beautiful. Simi is shocked and speechless and thinking ; Oh god my kind of man with burgundy jeep. She sigh: but he looks too young for me.
Simi says: Are you kidding abhi.? Me, and beautiful go ask my mom she thinks I am the ugliest person and gets strange men and asked me parade in front of them She thinks I am incapable of finding some one I like on my own. She may be right as of now I am still unable to find some one who can capture my heart. May be I don't know how? I just hate it so much. to talk to such men who looks at you like you are some object and not a real human being. But who will tell my Ma. In fact, she gave me one of those lectures this morning and I am still angry at her and like to tell her. I will choose my own man and If I can't find him I will stay unmarried. I am independent woman. Simi stops and says: sorry abhi. I did not want to burden you with my problems. I was just angry.
Abhi says: Ms sethi I know you are older than me and professor But we can be still friends. I am a good listener and I agree with you. One should marry some one, who you like as this is the question of your whole life. BTW I really mean it you are beautiful, BTW I also do photography on side as it is my passion and I can tell you from my experience You will make a beutiful model Your have a baby face with so much innocence. I was watching you in the temple and wanted to take pictures. If you allow me I like to take your pictures some day . I do plan to have exhibition some day. And may be use few of your pictures.
Simi is like oh my god abhi are you kidding me You are the 2nd person after my papaji who finds me beautiful. I even feel ugly now after every one thinks like that especially my mom and she lets ppl talk about me that way too. I am just too angry.
Abhi says: Ms sethi please don't get bothered by anyone talking like that. You know you are beautiful. Your inner beauty is all visible on your face. It makes your face glow. You don't need any artitifical layers to shine your face.
Simi is amazed and already likes Abhi. Simi says: abhi tum sach me kitni pyari baate karte ho. Mandir aa bhi gaya. Now I will find rickshaw.
Abhi says: are you sure? I can drop you home simi says: I am sure thanks for everything and I truly enjoyed talking to you, Bye. Simi walks away holding books.
As Abhi is driving he sees a store across and remembers his mom wanted to buy a gift. He parks the car and goes in . He buys the gift and heads towards his home.
He sees a traffic and asks some one. To find out a lady is hurt in accident and books are every where, Abhi stops the engine and rushes out remembering Ms sethi was holding books and how she came in front of his jeep in the morning.
He runs there moving ppl and finds Simi lying there unconscious. He tells every one he knows her and asks for help making some room for him to bring jeep and help her.
PPl moves away. Abhi runs to his jeep. He brings his jeep near Simi. He puts his backpack under simi;s head raising her head. He then sprinkles water on Simi's face. Simi wakes up. Abhi gets info from some one about the car that hit simi with licene plate number and few phone numbers.. Abhi helps her in the car. And gathers all her stuff and puts it in the back seat/ He looks at her. Simi has cut on her forehead and it is bleeding. She also has bruises on her elbows palms and knees. Abhi asks her : are you having lot of pain? simi says I have a bad headache. Abhi says: we need to go to doctor. Simi says: No I will go home. Abhi says: Ms sethi it is better to check you out by doctor first. As your wound is still bleeding . If you go home like this your family members will be worried. Simi agrees Abhi is looking for the clinic. Simi closes her eyes while the radio plays
