I agree with you, except I don't force myself to watch because I don't even watch KB anymore, just keep up with the general happenings.
Me Too Toothbrush! Actually I used to watch only 2 shows,Karol Bagh n another Top one on ZEE And I must add I'm a Fan of the Couple that of in your Picđł Can't 'Name' them Or the Serial as that might Offend some Ardent Simmui-Abhi/Karol Baagh fans as I might look like 'Promoting' another Serial Though it's Very Very True fact That this serial is not only Great but going No1 on Zee1.And Yes,I've Stopped watching Karol Baagh....
What I used to love was the really realistic "hook" of the show. Every time it came on I would find something new that looked or felt real and true to life. The set, the characters, the day-to-day happenings all felt quite real. I still remember this one fight between Anuj and Mili, I couldn't believe how real and genuine it looked. Then came Abhi and the love story, which I looked forward to eagerly. It had been a while since the older-woman-younger-man track was given a lot of light, the last show on it (that I remember) being Astitva. I wanted to see how KB developed this track, especially as I felt that Simi was more relatable to the average person than Dr. Simran from Astitva.
But All I got was Dissapointment Astitva was Suuuuuuuuuch a Well made Drama.....Sorry for Comparing with another serial again but can't help but say the Creatives could even take the 'Pain' to watch some Good-old serials to get ideas rather than giving the viewers the pain to Watch this drama?
Then somewhere the charm of the show started to fade away. The scenes became more and more melodramatic, the happenings absolutely unreal, the reactions of the characters to the happenings even more unreal. They could have kept the tracks somewhat dramatic or unrealistic, but in turn the characters should have been kept realistic. I was hoping that the writers of KB would realize that every show has its low parts and KB could have been kind of salvaged with the Abhi-Simi marriage track, but I guess not.
This show and the premise had immense potential, as did the characters. Many of the characters, as I believe you noted, have no purpose aside from being used for convenience at the writers' discretion. So much potential for an excellent serial... all wasted.
