I think 98% of serials are like this, so I'm not sure I can pick out KB as being exceptional. In some ways it's actually more bearable. At least Simi doesn't go running and crying to idols of Kanha every time something doesn't go her way.
The point is that all serials have a main heroine from which all other stories emanate, and a rushed romance, so this one isn't special to me in any way for those reasons. I don't find most serial romances to be terribly gripping. They are forced and the "romantic scenes" are cheesy and cliched. I can see why some totally inexperienced and naive teens might get goosebumps watching them, but I am not part of that demographic so perhaps these serials are just not meant for me.
That said, I thought this serial was going to be different from others when I first started watching, and while it sort of is, it still appears that the writers are too shy to do anything really bold and new.
What I wish they would focus on more is how Simi and Abhi are able to nurture their relationship in the midst of a conservative society that clearly does not approve of it. That is the one truly defining and unique part of this show and this story that I don't think any other serial has covered. We've seen lousy mothers, manipulative bahus, helpless fathers, stupid sons (Anuj and Anita are the Yuvraj and Pavitra of this show), etc. This show has the potential to be unique in so many ways but they keep falling back on cliched formulas.
