In an effort to create romantic moments the CVs have lost their grip on realism, which was a hallmark of this serial. While other shows had middle class families living in glamourous homes, KB showed a typical middle class house in Delhi, even the decor looked affordable not designer. While other shows had women cooking and sleeping in sequined sarees with heavy jewellery and make-up, this one showed the lady of the house in a nightgown and ordinary salwar suits. Simi wore normal clothes to work not sheer sarees with backless blouses. When Abhi took Simi out the first time they ate street food (more typical of youngsters) not in a candlelit restaurant.
Enough has been said about the fight and marriage scenes so I won't even start on those! Today again the SimBhi scenes were sweet but very unrealistic:
(i) Simi is a lecturer on a salary not a daily worker - surely she would have a bank account (most organisations in modern India bank in salaries) and credit card.
(ii) What about friends, given that both are very nice people wouldn't they have made some good friends who will be happy to help?
(iii) Anusha is a rich wife with lots of pin money - couldn't she have given Abhi some when they left?
(iv) They could have sold Simi's wedding jewellery (which was for shaadi with Nakul anyway).
They urgently need a writer who can write romantic scenes without resorting to gimmicks like sleeping on a park bench. Imagine going to stay with a friend and stealing moments of intimacy in the friend's house full of people. Imagine the thrill of signing their names as Mr & Mrs Tarneja for the first time in a hotel. Imagine Abhi choosing a fancy hotel and Simi chiding him in typical wifely fashion to be thrifty.
