I read about Asperger's Syndrome in relation to the forthcoming Movie My Name is Khan.... it's Very different from Autism.....Asperger's Syndrome people have Normal intellect,normal I.Q- as they're showing OMI to be really good at Solving Puzzles.... I think OMI IS FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR BETTER THAN VICKY.....

A person should be Judged by his deeds n intentions,not by his physical appearance.....

I was going to write a post called 'In defense of Omi' but then I saw yours.

Good post.

I wish people would take it easy on the poor guy. So what if he cannot tie his shoes. How many people can complete a Rubik's cube puzzle in 60 seconds like he did? So he has a disability, so what? It's about time Indian tv serials started showing people of all abilities and even disabilities. Why shun the poor guy just because he has some sort of illness or syndrome? He is probably a lot better than Vicky in many ways and you know what? He is probably too good for Neetu.

While I don't agree with Hitler Granny trying to dump her unmarried grandsons on the Sethi girls and bossing everyone around, I don't find anything wrong with what little I've seen of Omi. As a teacher I've worked with kids with learning disabilites and I find it heartbreaking that people judge and mock those who have disabilities. For goddness sake these people are human beings too with feelings and emotions. It saddens me when someone with a disability is frowned upon or discriminated against.

I think the pair of you completely miss what's going on here. While both of you might prefer to be hitched with Omi, good for you, but you're looking at Neetu and the fact that she does want to be with Vicky. Overall Vicky isn't very bright but his decision to steal money was the only idea he could come up with. As for the murder, guilty till proven innocent? We don't know.

As much as you both talk about someone with a disablity being a good person, marrying anyone with a disability is a big responsiblity. Even a child with either apserger's or autism can be a lot of work. So what if Omi can solve a rubic's cube? Is that what you base a rishta on? Good grief.

Also, if Omi was such a great catch, why is Hitler Dadi conning the Sethi's into the marriage by a) failing to introduce Omi to the family and b) setting up a condition that the marriage of Nukul and Simi can only take place if the marriage of Omi and Neetu happens. I am so looking forward to seeing Neetu and the Seethi's family's face when they realise Dadi's conjob. O boy, that's going to be a good laugh. It's going to be even funnier when dadi and the Daggars find out there is nothing pavitra about Neetu.

Whatever happens, I sincerely hope Abhi grows a spine, walks out on Simi and finds another woman. I think we all want to see Simi jealous. She needs to wake up and realize that Abhi is not going to want to be treated like chump change forever.

I completely agree that we shouldn't underrate Omi just because he has a (presumably) physical challenge of everyday motor skills. I have known such kids before, they could be hyperactive or have problems with fine motor skills, but can be very intuitive and intelligent (often in mathematics), and be quite normal in other ways.

However, the point I think most people on the forum are making is that shortcoming or no shortcoming, one should not marry off one's son/daughter without making a full disclosure of any such quality which a life partner has a right to know - whether it is a physical/mental/medical challenge or pregnancy or previous engagement/marriage.

Laila, chill! I was just making an observation about Omi, I wasn't saying I think what Hitler Granny is doing is right by any means. Neetu is pregnant with Vicky's child afterall so let her be his burden not Omi's. I just said Omi is probably too good for her because she has been behaving like a royal bitch and doesn't deserve someone who is probably a lot nicer than she herself is.

And no, dear, you don't base a rishta on if someone can solve a Rubic's cube or not, that's not what I was saying; but you also don't base it on the first guy you jump into bed with who knocks you up. Geez, does Neetu even know Vicky's last name?

Sandeepa, In response to your first post, no-one here was either judging or mocking Omi's disablities, people are were simply pointing out the obvious. It's all fine and dandy that we wish to advocate for those who have disablities, but when it boils down to it, I don't think anyone on this website would agree to marrying a guy who has a disability like Omi's. Whether it's autism or asperger's syndrome, it is not an easy task just socializing with someone with these disablities. And before everyone gets all worked up here, I do have friends and cousins with both these disablities.

If Neetu or anyone here disaproves of the marriage is that it is a set up and second, in light of what the Seethi family want for a rishta, Omi definately does not fit the image of a potential rishta. He's not a great catch; and I definately wouldn't bring forward a rishta of someone like Omi unless I fully disclosed it to that person.
