Chapter 2
The fact that hit him on the face was that his instructions were of no use since Kriya practically fell on him once she slept. She clutched his arm, and dug her nails in the biceps he had worked hard to maintain.
"I'm not your god damned Teddy Bear!" he pushed her away,
"Why are you shouting in the middle of the night? Can't you let me sleep peacefully?" She growled
"Are you sleeping much too peacefully that you can't even control your hands and legs and whatever?" he said
"You know what, go sleep on the floor" she said
"Better Idea : Let's push whatever-your-name-is out of this place and get the whole bed to myself" he said
"Even Better Idea : Let's throw Mr Singhania out of the room and make him sleep in the corridor" she said covering her face with a pillow "And it's Kriya!"
"You know what?" he said "You Suck!"
She looked at him and smirked "Occasionally"
"Stay on your half and let me sleep" he yelled
"I don't bite Mr Singhania" she giggled
The last thing Reyaansh Singhania knew that this girl could not be handled.

"Where is my nine am Latte?" he asked as she handed him all the papers
"Coming right up Mr Singhania" she said,
"Sir" he corrected
She gritted her teeth "Sure, Sir"
"And where is my meeting report?" he asked,
"Just a minute Mr-" she was about to say when she corrected her own self "Sir"
He smirked "9:15" he displayed her the watch in his hand "Get this laziness off your ass and get me my latte"
In five quick minutes she approached him with a latte in her right hand, meeting report in her left hand, "Miss Ghai Go and fix my meetings with the Trinity Company Owners. "
"Yes Mr Singhania" she said
"Miss Ghai, go and get my previous financial reports from the older financial consultant"
"Yes Mr Singhania" she said
"Miss Ghai, My 2 PM Latte?"
"Coming Right up Mr Singhania" she said
"Miss Ghai, where are my previous financial reports?"
"In the left drawer Mr Singhania"
It was finally the time she snuggled in the seat and sipped her coffee slowly when she heard.
"Miss Ghai, Answer my calls and fix up a meeting" he ordered
"But Its my brea-" she was interrupted
"I don't care, just do what i ask you to" he said
Shr gritted her teeth, her palms turned into quick fists as her nails dug deeper in the skin of her palm. He made her run from one corner of the office to another like anything and now when she finally had a few minutes for her own self he was spoiling that as well.
Was he a boss or monster?
She fixed up two meetings and decided that she was done for the day. She stormed into his office and banged the wooden table.
"Why are you being all bossy over me?" she asked infuriated
"You're just doing what you're supposed to" he said
"No I'm not!" she said "I mean, You made me run the entire day, giving simple tasks which can be done by you yourself, like answer my calls' really Reyansh? Couldn't you have done it yourself? I'm a girl not a f**king robot"
"Language" he pointed out.
"I need a break" she said annoyed.
"Miss Ghai, are you talking back to me?" he asked
"Well yes, that's how a conversation works" she crossed her arms across her chest.
"Well then, You already had your fifteen minutes break today baby," He said
"Don't call me that" she said annoyed.
"Right! You went Baba from Baby" he commented
"Shut up" she said
"Now, If you're done, where is my 5 pm Latte?"
She groaned "Mammmaaa" and then rushed to the kitchen to get his Latte done.
________
Kriya was exhausted by the time they were to head home. "How are you Verb?" he asked handing his coat to her and loosening his tie.
"Exhausted, Weird, Stuck, Tired, Emotionally stretched, financially not supported" she said "Don't you think I'm perfect?"
She gave him a fake sarcastic smile.
"Perfect" he said "Verb"
"And for the last time, its Kriya" she corrected
"Well, I guess you lack some grammar skills," he said "Verb is English pronunciation of whatever-your-name-is"
"You won't ever call me Kriya, will you?" she asked
He chuckled "How was your first day at work?"
"Exhausting," she said "You are not an easy boss"
"Well, I just want you to do everything I don't get time for" he explained.
"You aren't going to make me cook, are you?" she smiled
"Probably no, I like cooking my stuff myself" he said "Besides, I've tasted your latte's, they're pretty.."
"Good" she interrupted
"You wish" he let out an open mouth smile "I was going to say horrible"
She rolled her eyes "You won't ever appreciate me, will you?"
"Flattery is not good for my health" he said
It was then when the realization hit her, that maybe they were having a proper conversation for the very first time, previously they had just fought.
"Hey, Do you realize that for the very first time we're having this proper conversation?" She glanced past him
He nodded in agreement "I'm nodding in agreement."
"Yeah" it was barely a whisper, yet it seemed audible to him,
"Wanna catch a root beer?" he smiled
"That's all I need after a long day at work" she smiled
Maybe, she thought, after two years he would realize that girls dig at his smile. She glanced at him, and wanted to touch and see whether he was actually as good as he seemed.
He brought her the beer in the car,
"Why can't I go there and drink?" she asked
"Because" he said "I don't want other men eyeing on you"
She felt moved for a second, she stared at his orbs which were glassy and were a pale shade of blue, and she felt unease within her own self. He stared back at her and the time seemed to peculiarly freeze, she could feel his eyes at her and went self-conscious, she clutched the cover of the sheet until it was him who broke the eye lock which just took place.
He handed her the bottle "Its not your fault that you're wrapped in a skirt, its just the people in here, for them women are like rare species. I don't want you to get affected"
"Yeah" she looked at him only to find him already staring.
She diverted her gaze looking at the road instead of him.
"We're gonna have this here?" she asked
"You wanna go to an amazing place?" He asked smilingly.
"Yeah" she said "Is it lonely there?"
"Yes. No one stops by there,"
"Then what are we waiting for, Christmas?" she grinned as the vehicle roared to life.
__________
The place looked just as beautiful as he had told, maybe a little more than that. Thousands of stars shone in the midnight light and there was an eerie silence, except for the crickets disturbing it. it was the hilltop with a beautiful view of the city glittering right down them.
He smiled at her, it was dark and she looked beautiful with the moonlight craving for more access to her skin, her features looked even more gentle and subtle in the moonlight. She soon felt his gaze and stared back at him. She had big brown eyes, like that of a pool of dark chocolate. Her lips were a simple shade of pink and even at this hour, with no makeup and scattered hair, she managed to look tantalizingly beautiful. He wondered why hadn't he noticed this beauty before? Was he too blind to encounter a pretty naive woman? Actually pretty and naive woman' he corrected his own self.
It was then when he shook his head and drifted those thoughts away.
"Its the place where Robert Frost wrote stopping by the woods on a snowy evening" he commented
"You mean miles to go before I sleep'?" she asked
"Don't tell me you don't know that poem?" he asked
"I learned it when I was younger" she smiled
He sat down on the grass and soon pulled her too.
"You know" he said "When he first discovered wine he said come running: I'm tasting the stars"
"But we're not having wine" she smiled
"Well, there's no quote for Root beer" he chuckled
"You know what I think when I look at the stars?" she said
"That they're beautiful? And mesmerizing?" he suggested
"No" she smiled "That's so monosyllabic. Everyone thinks that"
"Thoughts don't care about monosyllables." He remarked "What is it then?"
"I mean, don't you think that they look lonely? I mean, all of them are so away, neither of them are together. They look just so.. away, they all have so much of distance between them, don't you think so?" she explained
He observed her closely, her thoughts seem to reflect on her face, her eyes shone and there was something in that smile, something that attracted him. He didn't know what though.
"Yes" he looked at the night sky "Don't you think its lovely? The Lonely Stars, they're completely different from what people think, you're quite different from what people are."
"But its not that, I've spend all my life hating myself Mr Singhania. Everyone has a potential, i never had one. I just, don't know, I was always really really away from everyone; my sister, she was always on the honour roll while I was much of a commoner. And so, you see, I'm still a commoner, Working as a financial advisor"
"I think you're pretty amazing" he said "You have this wit and skills and even when I spent my entire day working my ass off. You still know. You still know how to make me smile."
"Maybe" she said "But really Mr Singhania-" he interjected
"Why do you keep calling me that? Even when your off-duty?" he asked
"I don't know, you're older and you're my boss, what else am I supposed to call you?" she giggled
"Say my name" he hushed
"No Mr Singhania, I can't-" she was interrupted.
"Say it" he smiled
"Reyaansh" she breathed out.
He grinned "Much better"
He looked away, as if to avoid her avid gaze which was probably creating a hole in his face.
"Reyaansh" she said, and he could not help but look at her "I might kiss you"
"I'm afraid i would too" he replied.
"I really want to" she said "Reyaansh, is it bad that i want to kiss you?"
He held her face slightly and kissed her, the kiss didn't last long but he could guarantee that it was different from what they show in movies and write in romance novels, it was so different that later he realized that he was holding his breath for all this time.
He let go her and as she opened her eyes he could see that, a pinch of affection and a pinch of hope, he could not frame a smile, neither could he frown, he could just look at her, and not divert his eyes. His eyes bore into hers and before he could realize she was kissing him again, kissing him some more, as if this was the only moment she could claim him as hers, although this time, he made the move, he licked her lip slightly, and moved his tongue in her mouth, leaving her hands to trail up his hair and muffle it, he could feel her smile and even giggle when he bit her lip.
He studied her mouth, every inch of it. every corner of it. he moved his hands down her slim frame, his hands caressing her belly, he didn't have the courage to get her out of those threads, neither did he want to. He didn't want to rush, he didn't want to seem too pushy, he didn't want to continue. Yes, he did have a desire, a desire to feel her, her against him, her skin against his skin, with nothing at all stopping him. But he was afraid, strained that he might scare her, make her uncomfortable. When she could ask a question like that then she might consider him continuing as an undelightful sin. He broke away. "did you like that" he could see her smiling.
She furiously nodded.
"And No, its not bad that you want me to kiss you. You're a woman, feel like one" he grinned
"Reyaansh" she breathed out and he couldn't help but think how beautiful that sounded. "Could you just hold me? close. without making any moves, could you just hold me without considering me as a hoe?"
"I don't consider you that, get this straight into her head Verb" he said "That just wanting someone to kiss you doesn't make you a hoe"
She glanced at him "Why are you like this? Stop making everything sound good"
His hand travelled down to her waist and he pulled her against him, so quick that for a moment a gasp almost left her mouth.
With that, the two of them spend the night, with two untouched bottles, and with each other staring and counting The Lonely Stars.
