Chapter 40

Three weeks passed, Aarti was staying at her mother's home. One day Gayatri gets angry at her as she is not having her food.

"Why don't you marry again?" She shouted. Aarti looked at her with a lost face.

"Yes, when you don't love Yash then marry someone else, at least you will have your husband's name, do you have any idea what people talk outside this house about us" Gayatri was too angry.

"Maa.'' Aarti was in tears to realise that she was making her mother's life difficult.

"Just divorce Yash and I'll find a guy for you" Gayatri suggested.

"Stop it please, I'll never marry anybody else." Aarti cried.

"Kyun nahi Aarti bata mujhe? If you can betray Yash then why can't you marry again? Is that guy ditched you? I assume that's why you're upset, guilt of cheating Yash is finally eating you, I'm right?" Gayatri shook her. Aarti snapped her hands and ran to her room. She cried there thinking how can her mother think like this, then get why she wants to get rid of her because people are making her life hell. She sat there numbly for hours wondering where exactly life was taking her, she couldn't see a way out of it and nor did she have strength to tell the truth.

"No, I won't trouble maa anymore" She cleaned her face, grabbed her handbag and two pairs of clothes only to walk out, she stood in front of her mother's room, Gayatri was reading the Ramcharitmanas, it broke Aarti's heart because she read it when she is stressed or sad, Gayatri has told her many time how this holy book give her peace and strength to fight all the negativities.

"I'm sorry maa, I should be the reason for your happiness not your stress." Aarti felt a burn in her throat. She silently left the house.

Once out of the house she was wondering where she will go now, then she decided to stay at Yash's farmhouse till she found a job.

At the farmhouse, the watchman tried to tell her something but she didn't listen and told that she would leave in a few days.

In the bedroom Aarti was turning in bed but sleep was far away from her eyes. Then her gaze fell on the wardrobe. She opened it and took out a shirt of Yash.

"I miss you" She slept hugging it.

Meanwhile a drunk Yash entered the bedroom and didn't even bother to switch on the light, stumbled a little while kicking off his shoes then he sat on bed only to take off his tie and shirt and fell asleep. Later he turned in his sleep and felt her soft body.

"Baby i missed you so much" He hid his face into her neck while pulling her into his strong body.

"Yash" She stirred a little feeling his arm around her slim waist.

"Why did my dream feel real today?" She smiled in her close eyes and tried to turn around but he was too strong for her to even move his arm. She brought his hand near her face and snuggled into his palm.

In the morning Aarti woke up first and felt a grip around her body and soft breath on her neck. Yash also stirred with her movement, she turned around, their faces were a mere inch away.

"Aap?" She finally voices out her confusion. Now she realised what that watchman was trying to tell her last evening. She noticed Yash's grown beard, long hair; she never saw him like this. Yash is a well groomed person who likes nothing less than perfection, his short hair and clean shaved face was his permanent look, but now it seems he doesn't take care of himself.

"What are you doing here?" He moved back and realised that she was here for real. These two weeks was tough without her, he left his home because that reminds him of her, in office people began to whisper about his broken marriage, some assumed that soon their boss going have a divorce, some of his client back off from their deals, he faced just defeated from the day she walked out of his mansion and his life. His employee began to look at him with pity, where few found fault in him, even his own family looked at him as if he had a hand in why Aarti was staying at her mother's home. Now he drinks because nights have become longer for him, he doesn't get any sleep, his head is full of thoughts. Life has become just hellish for him though he is not from those who hide or break down but in reality he is losing it now, day by day.

Aarti was silent about what she should tell him. Next second Yash's phone began to ring.

"Yash beta, Aarti is missing from last night i have called all her friends but she is nowhere" Gayatri was too worried to even realise she is going to give him an attack.

"She is here" Yash glanced at Aarti who realised that he was talking to her mother. Gayatri felt relieved that Aarti is fine and that too with her husband.

"Maa" She comes near to in hope to talk to her.

"Aap chinta mat kijiye" Yash told Gayatri to not worry now. He hung up the phone and looked at Aarti for a clarification for leaving her mother without informing her. He noticed how weak she was looking, and also those dark circles under eyes, she not just lost weight but also that glow of her face.

"I can't live with maa," She said without meeting his eyes.

"Then where will you stay, mere sar pe?" He asked sarcastically.

"Nahi aapke farmhouse mein" She looked at him and realised that he was mocking her.

"Great!" He rolled eyes and left the room grabbing a pair of his clothes.

In another room bathroom, Yash splash water on his face, then lifted his head only to look into the mirror. He can't understand why she came here after ruining their marriage with her own hands, and what she wants from him now.

"Did her guy ditch her? Is she here to seek comfort in me?" He thought but it made him more mad, he cup some more water in his hands and splash on his face to wash off whatever emotions right now he has for her, be anger or hatred.

"I won't give her another chance to ruin me" He repeated to himself, running a hand in his hair.

Meanwhile Aarti took a bath and came out wearing a pink saree. Yash already gets ready in another room. When she came downstairs, he was having his coffee, sitting on a chair placed there in front of the table.

"Aap yahan kyun rehte hain?" She asked, noticing he is ready for office. He didn't make any movement as if he couldn't hear her. She sadly twisted her saree pallu, why she thought he would like to talk to her after what she did to him.

"Thanks for coffee" She noticed a mug for her too on the table.

"You can stay in my bedroom and I'll shift my things to another room." He didn't even glance at her while telling it. She took a seat in front of him.

"But why?" She protested only to meet his surprised eyes.

"I mean that is our room," She remembered how many happy moments they shared in that bedroom even before their marriage. He glared at her, keeping his empty mug on the table.

"Our?" He mocks. She looked away from his accusing eyes.

"We are husband and wife" She took a sip from her coffee.

"After staying away for a month you finally remember it?" He laughed sadly. Before she said anything he got a call, he rose from his chair and gave her a last look before he went out.

*******

Later Gayatri come to meet Aarti only to scold her for leaving like that, Aarti told her she won't return because she doesn't want to trouble her.

"I'll stay here till I get a job, Yash bhi yahin rehte hain" She told.

"Yash also staying here but why?" Gayatri questions even though she saw a hope for her daughter's broken marriage to have a second chance.

"I asked him but he is not talking to me" Aarti frowned, remembering how he was giving her those dangerous glares. Gayatri smiled and told her to not trouble Yash much even though she wishes they both have some fight only to sort out whatever difference they have.

"Take care" Gayatri brushed Aarti's hair and left from there with a hope in heart to see her daughter again happy with Yash.
