CHAPTER 20
PART II
Muddy Mutual Murkiness
Kashish peered inside the gallery making sure nobody was awake as yet. She didn't want to confront anyone as yet. She wasn't sure she could confront any1 as yet.
Good thing every1 is still asleep. Now all I have to do is quietly sneak up to my room. Every1 wud be probably mad that I arrived early in the morning rather than evening and didn't even inform. But I guess that is better than talking about or meeting up with-
"Who is there?"
This voice!!!!! Kashish stood frozen at her place as soon as the name of the owner of this voice registered SUJAL!!! He… is… h.e.r.e
Kashish pulled herself together and replied in a throaty voice
"It's.. It's… m.. me-"
Kashish's breath got caught in her throat once more as she saw him coming out of kitchen and she was once again incapable of speaking. He looks…. Wow…. Like always… but today…. As kashish took in the sight of a bare hand tightly clenching a water bottle, the other holding the door, the crumpled night clothes, the tousled hair, sleepy half closed veiled eyes and the lean muscular body to go with it all, she barely heard what he was saying to her…
"Huh?"
Kashish finally realized that she cud never be over him- not even after she died. Kashish stood nailed on the spot, rudely staring at the figure in front of her; her eyes had been thirsty for his sight.
S (Cold acidic voice) –I asked who are u? Is that a very difficult question to answer?
Kashish finally came out of her trance to understand the full impact of his words… He is still the same pompous, overbearing, arrogant SOB.
K (Equally acidic tone) –No it's not. I just didn't know u had amnesia. No, no actually I should have figured out that u have amnesia. It explains everything.
Kashish watched as Sujal's pallor changed from normal to sickly pale gray. Sujal clutched the door tightly for support, he cud feel his knees buckling beneath him. Only one word coursed through his mind…Kashish….Kashish….Kashish….
K….. Look at him, suddenly looking so broken down…. He is good at looking guilty but I will not fall for his act. No way!!
K (Cold, flat, mean voice) –Let me see….. So now u live here permanently huh? like a homeless, orphaned pig? No, u don't understand the meaning of my last line of course, since u wouldn't be remembering about ur past. And since u have lost ur memory… I'll just introduce myself…
K walked towards S and stopped few feet away from him.
K –My name is Kashish Sinha. I live in this house too. I am ur best friends only sister and I HATE you.
Sujal stood there stunned… drunk… Her indifferent, cold voice hitting him hard in gut.Sujal was so lost in her faint, wispy smell that he hardly heard her last words. It was when she turned to leave he came back to reality.
S (Keeping his voice as impersonal as possible, trying to look and act normal again) –So you're back…
K –Ah… So u noticed? (Sarcasm dripping from her tone)… Or should we say remembered?
S –How can I forget You(Nastily as if she were some sour candy he had been forced to eat)
K –Really? Well u seemed to have conveniently forgotten my name right now!!! (Calming down suddenly) Look I don't want to fight right now. I going to my room bye.(Kashish rapidly turned and walked away)
Forget her name????? What in the hell does she mean by that???!!!!
S –Wait!!
As sujal lurched forward, he crashed against a large flower vase; he had completely forgotten about.
CRASH!!
"Damn it!! Ouch!"
Kashish whirled around and saw Sujal staggering to stand up. His left palm bleeding.. Shard of broken vase embedded there…
Forgetting all her apathy and hate, Kashish ran to him and held his left hand carefully taking out the culprit of his pain.
K (Muttering to Sujal )–What the heck!!! What do u think were u doing? What if u got hurt badly? How the heck did the big freaking vase escape ur attention? Can't u atleast look where ur going? I'll just clean it up with antiseptic and the-
S (Tight restrained voice) –No.
K blinked her eyes and shook her head… What did he just say? He doesn't want me to.. Of course how can I forget he detests my touch..
K –Look! I know, u hate my touch but I gotta take care-
S –I can't.
K looked up at him in confusion.. Something was wrong she couldn't put her finger on it. His closed eyes and frowning brows showed anguish deeper than any physical injury could inflict.
K (Slightly shaky tone…. She wanted to help him right now. if he refused, she wud never be able to have any self confidence again) –U c.. can't what?
