Part 16
They both lived in the same house, but it wouldn't seem like it, they had seperate rooms but they would never be in the same room at the same time. If he woke up early, he would go downstairs and cook breakfast, leaving enough for her, he would eat then go back upstairs, only then would she come downstairs and eat whatever he had made. But if she came downstairs before him, she would cook for herself but never for him, he had spent days wishing she would leave breakfast for him but she never did. It was the same at dinner, if it was him cooking, he would make enough for them both, have his dinner, watch some tv the go upstairs to his room where he would wait to hear her door opening, hear her going downstairs then later coming back up again, he would go down in to the kitchen and find she had eaten and washed up, he would then simply return back upstairs to his room and sleep peacefully. But when she cooked, she cooked for herself, she'd watch tv then wash her dishes and go upstairs and go to sleep, she never listened out to know if he had gone downstairs to eat which sometimes he did, other times he would sleep on an empty stomach but she wouldn't know, which had him wondering, if she did know, would she have cared?
And when he had cooked for her, he would sometimes go upstairs, knock on her door, she would open it slightly and pop her head out but she never let him in, he would tell her dinner was made and she would nod her head and shut the door on him. That was the extent of most of their conversations. If she spoke to him, it would be to tell him he had a phonecall, or he had a visitor or that something was broken so he could fix it. When he spoke to her it was to let her know dinner was ready, to remind her of her doctors appointments, to tell her he was going out and would be late, she rarely ever told him she was going out, he would be in his room and would simply hear the front door shut, he would get up and look out from his window and see her getting into a taxi, or a friend's car. She did that a lot, go out with her friends to catch up, sometimes she would be out until the early hours of the morning, and he wouldn't be able to sleep until he heard her door shut, but when he'd go out and come back late, he wondered to himself, did she worry for him like he worried for her?
That's what life was like for Angad the past two months since Kripa got her memory back, at first he'd tried to speak to her, tried to make her understand that it wasn't his fault but when she didn't want to hear anything, he stopped trying to explain and left her to herself. Armaan had stayed with them for a week but even he had to go back to the US and when he did Angd felt more alone than ever, at times he would want to talk to Kripa so he would go to the living room to see her but she would leave the room, and since she never allowed him in her room he never went after her. But curiosity got the better of him and one night when she had gone out, he went in to her room, it had changed considerably from before she got her memory back, the most noticeable change was the lack of dust lying around, she'd cleaned it up, there weren't any more boxes lying around either, the photo albums and gifts were kept on a shelf, he'd opened her cupboard and found her clothes next to Aditya's clothes, he'd closed the cupboard and looked around, she had taken the framed photographs and placed them around the room but one thing which had him stumped was that she had left the photograph of him and Aditya hanging on the wall, he presumed it was because it had Aditya in there but a little voice in his heart suggested that maybe she had left it hanging because he was in there, he didn't know and he was definately sure she wouldn't tell him the actual reason for keeping it there. He'd left the room as it was and never went back in.

"There has to be some sort of mistake" Kripa pointed out to the middle aged doctor sitting opposite her
The doctor shook her head and held out the report to Kripa
"If the two pregnancy tests you took don't make you believe the truth then this report will, this is the reality Miss Sharma, you are pregnant"
Kripa took the report and looked at it, yes it was there in black and white, clearly written that she was indeed pregnant. She frowned and thanked the doctor and left the clinic, she began walking down the street allowing the news to seep into her brain. She had earlier suspected it but now it was confirmed, she was pregnant, with Angad's child. Kripa's frown grew, if only the baby was Aditya's, then she would have happily married him, she would happily go through with the pregnancy while going out shopping for baby clothes and she would have happily given birth to a baby and happily named it.
But that was Kripa's dream world, the reality was that the baby was Angad's, and as the doctor had told her she now had three options before her, one, go through with the pregnancy and keep the baby, two, go through with the pregnancy but give the baby up for adoption, and three, have an abortion. But Kripa wouldn't have an abortion, she wouldn't have been able to take the life of an innocent child, a child who had nothing to do with what happened with her and Angad, so that option went down the gutter. Which meant she had to go through with the pregnancy, but she knew that if she agreed to give the baby up for adoption that when the time came she wouldn't be able to give the baby up, which left only one option, to have the baby and keep it, which inevitabley meant telling Angad. She was going to tell Angad, at least she thought she should, despite whatever happened, he had every right to know that she was pregnant with his child, better he hear it from her now than realise it later when she began to get bigger.
Kripa sighed and unlocked the door, she stood by the stairs ready to go up but her concience got the better of her and forced her to go into the living room where Angad was, she sat down which got Angad's attention, he turned and looked at her.
"Everything ok Kripa?" He asked as he switched the tv off
"No....yes.....I don't know" Kripa replied.
Angad looked confused, Kripa sighed and stood up
"I'm pregnant"
"What?" Angad asked disbelivingly
Kripa breathed deeply and took the report out from her bag and walked over to him and handed it him
"I was just at the doctors, I was late, you know as in i missed that time of the month, so i took a pregnancy test, well two tests, they both came out positive but I thought maybe the tests were wrong so I went to the doctors and she only confirmed it, so yeah...I'm having a baby....your baby"
Kripa stared at his blank face, she shook her head
"Ok so I'm just going to go upstairs"
Kripa put her hand out and he slowly handed her the report, she picked up her bag and walked off leaving him looking very lost. He leaned back against the sofa processing what she told him, she was pregnant with his child? How did that happen, Angad mentally kicked himself, of course he knew how it happened, he just never expected it, and by the way she acted neither did she. He wanted to go after her but what was he supposed to say? Damn why did Armaan have to leave, Angad cursed under his breath as he took his phone out and dialed Armaan's number but all he got was the voicemail, he hung up and walked over to the cabinet, he picked up a photo of Aditya, he had put them back around the house ever since Kripa got her memory back, he went back and sat on the sofa, he looked at his brothers picture and frowned.
"Is this a good thing? Kripa's pregnant, with my child, I always thought that when Kripa would pregnant it would be when you and her were married. What am I supposed to do now? Marry her? She hates me, she isn't going to marry me, Bro, give me some sort of help, I'm lost here"
Angad frowned at his brother's smiling face, he was happy but he was confused, he was happy that he was going to be a father but he was confused about what he was supposed to do now, play happy families?
*********************
He decided to take a walk, he went upstairs and knocked on her door, she opened the door and stuck her head out
"I'm going for a walk, I'll be back soon ok"
Kripa nodded her head and he turned and left. She frowned and closed her door, was that all he was going to say? She dropped a huge bombshell on him and all he had to say was that he was going for a walk? Kripa shook her head and sat on her bed, she looked at the photograph hanging on the wall of Aditya and Angad, she sighed and grabbed her pillow and hugged it. She missed Aditya, she wondered what things would have been like if he hadn't died, there would have been no her and Angad, which was good wasn't it? Things were complicated with her and Angad, Armaan had told her that it was her who thought they were in love, who knows where she got that idea from, but Angad had wanted to tell her the truth, only the doctors stopped him because it was threatening to her life at that moment. But that had been months before they got close, he could have told her then, she could have handled it, well that's what she thought.
And despite whatever Armaan or Angad said, he shouldn't have gotten close to her, it was her who lost her memory, not him, then why didn't he control himself and back off? Did he forget that she loved his brother? Did he not remember that she was supposed to marry Aditya? Whatever the reasons, Angad should have stopped himself from getting close to her, even if he didn't tell her the truth he could have let her down gently, he ould have made her believe he never loved her, but no, he had succumbed to his emotions and slept with her. Kripa closes her eyes thinking of that night, it was still clear in her head, at that time she had wanted him more than anything, but she didn't know better, he did, and instead of keeping his distance he went the whole way, and now she was pregnant, nnow they both have to face the consequences. Kripa sighed and lay down, she needed to sleep it all off.
******************
Angad found himself in the park, he had merely walked as soon as he got out of the house, he did that a lot, start walking or driving and end up in some place without knowing it. He sat down on the bench and ran his hands through his hair, he needed some advice but he had no where to go. He had no parents to turn to, no brother, no friends, he was alone, tears welled up in his eyes, he tried his best to stop them from falling but it didn't work, the tears fell from his eyes, he brushed some away but stopped when he felt someone touch his shoulder, if he didn't know otherwise he would have thought it was his brother, but he did know better, he turned to see who it was and saw a man smiling at him, the man took out a tissue from his pocket and handed it to Angad, Angad smiled weakly and took the tissue and wiped his tears away.
"Thanks"
"Do you mind if I sit down?" The man asked
Angad nodded his head and shuffled over giving enough room for the guy to sit down, Angad looked at him and saw him staring at two kids playing catch, the guy smiled
"Those are my kids"
"They're cute" Angad told him wondering what his son or daughter would look like at that age
The guy glanced at Angad and smiled again
"So what's the matter?"
Angad looked confused, the guy laughed slightly
"You were crying, I was just wondering what happened"
"Its personal" Angad replied
"Yeah but sometimes if you let a stranger know your problems it can make you feel better"
Angad mulled over his words and thought he was right.
"Its a long story" Angad told him
"I have time, I told my wife I would be ages"
Angad smiled back at the guy and started with his story.
