Chapter 60

Part 61 – Two nurseries

Recap: Eklavya opened the door to their bedroom and Isha gasped in shock.

There were toys everywhere! From cars to trucks to dolls to little hit-me toys to everything she could imagine. The shocking part was that there were two nurseries instead of one. One in pink and one in baby blue.

 

I: Eklavya did you - ?

E: You like it?

I: Eklavya! We don't even know if it's a girl or not!

E: Yeah, that's why I bought girl and boy toys. And there're two nurseries.

I: And what are we going to do with the ones we don't need? Throw them away?

E: No, of course not! We'll give them to our next baby!

I: Eklavya! I'm dying here with the first child and you're already talking about another one!!

E: It's ok, Isha. I'll share your pain.

             Isha smiled at him. He leaned over and planted a kiss on her forehead. All this seemed so surreal that it was hard to believe it was happening. But whatever happened, whether it was a girl or boy, Isha knew that her baby would have the childhood that she never did. Suddenly, Isha felt a vomiting sensation. She covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom. Eklavya came behind her.

E: Are you ok, Isha?

I: Yeah, I'm fine

             Isha tried to close the door on Eklavya. She didn't want him to see her vomit all over his washroom. But Eklavya stepped in the washroom and massaged her back. Her entire breakfast came right out. Eklavya went out and got bottled water and gave it to Isha. Isha's head felt like a million pounds that moment.

I: Eklavya, I'm so sorry –

E: Don't be stupid! Just drink this and go to bed. I'll clean all this up.

I: No – (Weakly tries to stop Eklavya) I'm – fine. Just a little headach –

E: You have a headache? Oh Gosh! Maa! Dadi!

I: No, Eklavya, it's not that bad – really…

It was too late. Isha passed out on the floor, not knowing what happened next. All she knew was somebody had lifted her up and put her on something so cushiony and light that she felt heavenly. When she woke up, concerned eyes were staring at her. Damini and Tulsi dadi were right there beside her. She tried getting up but her head still felt a little heavy.

D: Are! Don't get up, Isha! You fainted in the washroom! You're not going to get up from here at all!

T: Thank God you're alright. We were worried sick.

I: How long have I been like this?

E: 3 hours.

             Isha turned around and saw Eklavya. She looked past him to the window. It was evening now which meant Eklavya had not gone to work either. His eyes were red, evidently from crying and tension. She tried reaching her hand up to his face.

E: Isha! Don't move! You need protein. The doctor came and checked you.

I: (Worried voice) What about our baby?

E: Yes, our baby's fine. But you need to get healthy. No more junk food. No more watching serials until 10. No more dancing. No more waking up late.

N: Here I wrote out a schedule for you which you are going to follow! Wake up – go to yoga with Nisha. 7 – Protein tablets and breakfast. 12- Iron tablets and lunch. 7:30 – vitamin tablets and dinner –

I: Ok! Ok. I'll follow your schedule and diets and everything ok? Happy?

E: (Smiles) Yes! Very.

             After everyone left, Eklavya moved in beside Isha on their bed. He gently stroked her hair until she fell asleep. Everything was alright; their baby and Isha.
