Part 27 – the next day

Manthan woke up at exactly 5:00. Isha had tried to be a part of his social class. The least he could do for her was to wake up at her time. He got ready quickly and looked around the house. It was completely silent besides his Tulsi dadi and his baa's pooja. He got his bike ready and rode his way towards Nisha's apartment.
Meanwhile, Eklavya got out of his car and knocked on Isha's apartment door. A completely dressed and showered Nisha appeared on the doorway. She had her hair in a wet towel. She was taken aback to find Eklavya there.

N: Eklavya? Aap? Yaahan? Koi kaam tha?
E: Woh actually, Isha –
N: Oh, I get it…Come on in, I was just making breakfast. Maha-rani is still sleeping of course. The bedroom is the second door to the right.
E: Thanks

Eklavya went into her bedroom and of course found Isha sleeping "maha-rani" style on the bed. He would definitely keep his promise, he thought to himself. He bent down beside her bed and moved a strand of hair out of her face…

Knock Knock!
Nisha went to open the door for the second time. She took her wet hair out of her towel and opened the door.

N: Manthan? Aap yahaan?
M: I woke up at 5:00, Nisha!

Nisha laughed at him.

N: Aayieh, aap hi ki kami thi!
M: Arre! Nisha! I woke up at 5:00 just to see you! You should be a little happy, yaar! And what do you mean app hi ki kami thi? Koi aur aaya hai kya?
N: Apka bhai, Eklavya. He woke up and just like you he rushed here.

M: So, what's for breakfast?
N: Garam garam pokode…they'll be ready in a sec. If you're hungry there're some cookies I baked yesterday right there
M: Ok, thanks, I didn't eat breakfast…I'm famished

Manthan saw two jars of cookies on the kitchen counter. He picked the large on up and grabbed a cookie. He bit it and realized it tasted disgusting. He was about to spit it out when he realized that the cookies had been baked by Nisha. The worst thing he could do was insult her food.

M: They're decilious! I have never tasted better cookies in my life!
N: Manthan?
M: Yeah?
N: Those are dog cookies…you took the cookies from the wrong jar!
Manthan looked at his cookies and spit everything out while Nisha laughed hysterically. She set the garam pokodes on the dining table and went to get Isha and Eklavya.

N: There's bottled water in the fridge…if you want- umm- more cookies, please don't eat the dog ones!
M: Nisha!

Nisha ran off laughing again. It was so sweet that he had said that to make her feel better. She knocked on the bedroom door and opened it. She found Isha and Eklavya sitting on the bed and talking.

N: Isha? Are you feeling ok? It's only morning right now!
I: Ha ha, di! Very funny…I was more than happy to go to sleep before Eklavya came and woke me up!
N: So Eklavya ka jadu chal gaya! Really, Eklavya, I have to take lessons from you on waking up Isha.

Hearing this, Isha went pink. Nisha realized that she probably shouldn't interfere in her sister's love life, so she told them to be at the dining table in 5 minutes. She walked back towards the dining table grabbing her books and other things for college. When she got there, she found an entire table already set up.

N: Manthan? Did you set up the table?
M: Yes, ma'am.
N: That's very sweet, Manthan. Thank you. I think we should just start without them…and don't worry, Manthan, there's no dog pokode!
M: Nisha!
N: I'm sorry! Ok, no more dog food jokes.

She looked at him with a serious face to indicate that she wasn't going to tease him anymore. She served him the food and they started eating. Manthan poured sauce over his shirt while trying to pour it on his pokodes. Nisha looked at him and laughed.

N: You're not very good with food are you? Bilkul bachey ho!

She passed him some napkins and poured sauce over his pakodes without dropping it anywhere else. She took a pokoda off his plate and lifted her arm to meet his mouth-level. Manthan leaned in and took a huge bite of the pokoda.

N: Is it ok?
M: It's deciloious! I have never tasted betters pokodos in my life!
N: You said the same thing about the dog food…
M: Oh, ya but seriously this is awesome! Can I take some for my mom? She loves theses! She'll be so happy!
N: Oh, sure, if you like them that much, then you can have them all, Isha never eats them anyway. She always says, "Kitna oily hai, di!"

They both talked and laughed occasionally. Even a stranger could tell what great chemistry they shared. Chemistry…Nisha realized she had Chemistry first period. She grabbed her things and yelled a good bye to Isha and Eklavya.

M: But it's so early! College doesn't start until –
N: I have to go to the library and get a book!
M: Uhhh! Presentations! Books! Tests! No wonder you have to wake up at 5!
N: Manthan, are you coming or should I take the bus?
M: I'm coming, I'm coming! You will never need to take the bus, if you're with me…

She smiled at him. With him as in with him like friends or with him as in together like a couple? She didn't bother to ask afraid it was the first of the two. She followed Manthan out of the apartment and they both headed towards his bike.
