Part 25 – Good Night
"Isha, will you marry me?" The words still rang in her head. Isha was still glued to the beach sand. She couldn't believe her luck. When she wanted to confess to Eklavya, she was ready, but now, she was glued to her spot when he'd actually asked her. There were so many ways of reacting but Isha couldn't think of one. She finally released a tear. Eklavya, distraught to see Isha crying got up.
E: Isha, I didn't mean to hurt you…I just –
Isha grabbed him by his arm and pulled him into a tight hug. Eklavya, although mildly surprised, returned her hug back. Once they were separated, he asked her,
E: So that's a yes right?
I: Eklayva!
E: Joking!
He gently took her hand and slid the gorgeous ring on her ring finger.
E: Come on, let's take you home…
I: But I'm all wet and sandy…We'll get your car dirty, won't we?
E: Yes, you're right…ok, then we're walking!
After saying that, Eklavya started walking away from the beach. He can't be serious, thought Isha. She had stilettos on!
I: Eklavya! I'm wearing heels! I can't walk…
E: That's exactly the point!
He gripped his hands around her thigh and shoulders and lifted her up. He carried her and walked away from the beach. Isha realized how far away the beach was from her apartment. She felt sorry for anybody who had to carry her until there.
I: I can walk in my stilettos, its ok, really… Eklavya, you have no idea how heavy I weight!
E: Oh, trust me, I know! Every time you fall or have to be lifted, it's always around me!
Isha took her hand bag and whacked him with it playfully.
I: So you're saying I'm fat!
E: Hey you're the one who said it! I'm just repeating what my darling-wife-to-be said…
Isha stopped, realizing what he had said. He was right! She was going to marry him! He actually liked her – no not just liked her! He loved her! She couldn't believe tonight. She realized Eklavya was sweating now and thought maybe she was too heavy for him.
I: Uhh – Eklavya, seriously, I think I can walk now…Really, you'll have some kinda back problems tomorrow
E: You're probably right, but you know what?
I: What?
E: I'd have back problems any day to get a chance to carry you…
I: I'll take that as a compliment
He put her down telling her they had arrived at her apartment. She was well aware that it was past midnight and Eklavya was probably dead tired but she didn't want to leave. This night had been perfect so far and she didn't want it to end. She saw how tired Eklavya was and realized how far he had carried her. She smiled to herself. She had to be the luckiest girl on the planet. Eklavya said good night and walked off. She called after him.
E: Kya hua?
I: Arre! Tum hindi pictures naahin dekhte kya?
E: Kya?
I: Ophh! You don't say good night to a girl like that!
E: Really? So you're going to tell me how to say good bye to a girl?
I: Yes!
E: Acha, toh kaho. Kaise good night kehte hai?
Eklavya teased her playfully. Isha smiled at him. She took Eklavya's hand and said in a deep, guy-ish voice.
I: I had a great time with you today…
Eklavya couldn't help suppress a smile. She was adorable. Suddenly Isha grabbed Eklavya by his neck and pulled him so they were inches away. She dropped the fake guy voice when she spoke to him.
I: And you know what? I loved the ring and the saree and everything else! It was lovely.
She pulled him closer and gave him a slight kiss on his cheek.
I: Good Night, Eklavya…And that's how you say good night!
"Whoa!" Eklavya said touching his cheek.
E: Ok then it's settled!
I: Kya?
E: Shaadi ke baad, I'll wake you up my way and you say good night to me like this every day, ok?
I: No, Eklavya, we decided not waking up early!
E: And when did WE decide that?
I: Right now! We're deciding now that I need my beauty sleep.
E: Koi zaroorat naahin hai. Waise bhi itni kubhsurat ho, aur bhi ho jao ji toh koi aur tumse shaadi kar lega!
I: Eklav-
Isha stopped midway in her sentence and looked at the blinding light. Somebody was on a bike with really blinding lights. After the person turned the blinding lights off, she realized it was her sister and Manthan.
