EPISODE-34

 

 

Naina was shocked to see her brother...so much that she even blacked-out for a few seconds....She was about to fall on the ground but Rajveer came in and held her.

 

Navin was trying to sleep but could not. The footsteps entering into his room disturbed him all the more. He looked towards the door and saw Rajveer. That was a big surprise for him... or rather a shock. He didn't expect his best friend to come for his rescue. He was so touched and happy.

 

Rajveer looked at Navin. His hair and beard had overgrown. There was a big bandage over his head and scars all over his face. The face once all the girls used to drool upon was so badly distorted with injuries, scars and cuts. His leg was plastered and clothes were all worn-out with smudges of blood everywhere. He had lost weight tremendously and appeared very thin. But those were all repairable. What could not be restored was his lost arm. Navin was shot in his shoulder during the war and then he was taken into custody. But because of that he could not get treatment on time and no one even cared about that. His arm had to be cut to save him. He was as precious as the informations that he had. But after that he wasn't even supposed to be a human. That was so obvious from the inhuman treatment meted out to him.

 

Rajveer and Navin looked at each other with moist eyes. Meanwhile Naina was coming back to senses and both of them realized that someone else is also there. Since Naina was still behind that viel Navin could not figure out who actually she was. Rajveer shook her and she got back on her feet.

 

Navin looked questioningly at Rajveer.

"Raj...yeh...." His voice was very weak.

Naina lifted her viel. That face gave Navin a shock of his lifetime.

"Naina?" This time his voice was much louder and clear.

"Raj yeh yahan kya kar rahi hai? Tu ise yahan kyu le ke aaya?"

"Navin woh main... Tu jaanta hai yaar ise... Zid le kar baith gayi thi... Main, Neeti aur Alekh hum sabne samjhaya lekin isne kisi ki baat hi nahin maani. But you don't worry she's fine." Saying this he turned to Naina who was staring at him.

 

She didn't had to ask. Rajveer already knew what she wanted to ask.

"Yes I knew about his condition. Tumhein nahin bataya kyunki tum darr jaati."

"How could you Raj?"

 She ran to Navin and hugged him tightly. She was blubbering like a small kid.

"Naina main theek hoon. Tu meri fikr mat kar.... Naina look here...look at me. Tujhe yahan nahin aana chahiye tha."

"Bhaiyya please. We are meeting after months aur is waqt main aapse ladne ke mood mein bilkul nahin hoon."

A smile came on all the faces.... Rajveer also went to Navin and gave him a warm hug.

 

"Tu Naina ki fikr mat kar. She is absolutely alright. Woh theek hai."

"Theek hai Raj. Lekin sabse pehle humein yahan se nikalne hoga. Ab yahan aur ruke to hamari wajah se yeh dono prolem mein aa sakte hain. Army is making enquiries here."

"Jaanta hoon. Abhi 9 baj rahe hain. Ek kaam karte hain.... Main abhi nikalta hoon aur hamare yahan se jaane ke arrangements karta hoon. Hum aaj raat sharp 0030 hours pe niklenge."

"What? Raj hum Bhaiyya ko is haalat mein nahin le ke jaa sakte."

"Nikalna padega Naina. Hum sab ke liye yehi theek hoga."

"Main bhi aapko is haalat mein inhein yahan se le jaane ki salaah nahin doonga." Doctor intervened.

"You don't worry. Hum samhaal lenge. Navin tu aaram kar. It's gonna be a difficult night for you. Naina tum Navin ka khayal rakhna. Main do ghante mein aa jaaonga."

"Okay. But you take care."

"I will."

 

Rajveer left to make arrangements to leave the place. The old man and the doctor also went to the other room leaving Naina and Navin alone.

"Maa- Baba kaise hain?"

"Theek hain."

"Unhone tujhe aane kaise diya yahan?"

"Unhe nahin pata ki main yahan hoon. Maine unse keh diya ki main Neeti ke saath Phagwara mein hoon."

 

 They both were silent after that. After a long pause Naina finally said,

"Pooch lo na jo poochna hai... sharma kyu rahe ho? Acha chalo mat pooch. Main khud hi bata deti hoon. Neeti bhi theek hai. Aapko bahut miss kar rahi hai. Infact use is tarah se kamzor padte hue humnein pehle kabhi nahin dekha."

"To tell you the truth Naina...I am rather disappointed. Mujhe samajh mein nahin aa raha ki Neeti ne tujhe aane kaise diya yahan. Kya zaroorat thi use tere jhooth mein shaamil hone ki. Woh khud bhi to aa sakti thi na."

"Bada bharosa hai apne pyaar pe?" She teased him.

"Matlab?"

"Bhaiyya you know her... Agar woh aa sakti to zaroor aati."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Humnein use aane se mana kar diya... Hum sab ne. Main, Raj, Alekh..."

"Kyun?"

"Because.... She is pregnant."

"What?"

"You don't worry. Woh theek hai and you know what yahan se nikalte hi hum sabse pehle Neeti ko hi call karenge."

"Yeah." Navin said hat half-heartedly. He was thoughtful.

"Bhaiyya are you okay?"

"Of course bacha."

"Theek hai to stop thinking about everything else and aap thoda sa aaram kar lijiye."

 

It has been 2 hours. Rajveer hadn't returned. Naina was worried. She was pacing up and down in the room.

"Naina tujhe kya hua?" Navin asked her when he saw her tensed.

"Bhaiyya Raj abhi tak nahin aaya. Usne kaha tha ki woh 2 ghante mein aa jaayega. Lekin...."

"Aa jaayega... Realx."

"Relax... I cant Bhaiyya. Agar woh kisi problem mein hua toh?"

"Naina Raj ko problems se deal karna aata hai. Woh aa jayega."

"But......"

 

Before she could finish there was a knock at the door. Her heart was sinking. She didn't know it was Raj or a new problem knocking their door to enter their lives.
