Chapter 18

Mehak was making a good progress. She even did some extra sessions with Sanyukta. She was doing good. The days passed in a giffy.

A DAY BEFORE THE CELEBRATIONS-

Mehak was walking with the help of a stick for longer durations. She was walking in the park when Armaan met her, without a word he started walking with her. Even she didn't say anything. A whole round later Armaan said Hi, Mehak said a courteous Hi too. Armaan then said he wanted to talk and they should sit somewhere to talk. Mehak refused and said that she sat enough in 2 years and she would rather work on her standing and moving now and for the little chit chat, she told that she thought there were no topics left. 

Armaan looked on and then held her hand hence making her stop to look at him. He looked into her eyes and said that he could still see love for himself. Mehak who was in pain because of him holding her left hand so tight said that it wasn't love, he was seeing in her eyes nothing but a pure feeling of not caring enough for him. Mehak made it very clear to him that she wasn't into him anymore. She clearly told him that she didn't love him. Armaan's hold on her hand loosened and he just asked if she ever loved him because the love they had was everything for him and it was only due to his family pressure that he had to leave her.

Mehak laughed, she asked him was he even serious, he was asking the girl who jumped infront of a truck to save him if she ever loved him or not. Armaan looked down ashamed. Mehak told him that she loved him the most and was shattered when he left her and then she died on the inside when he engaged Shruti leaving her forever.

 She told him that she wasn't the Mehak Sharma he knew because she died long back, the girl infront of him was a new Mehak Sharma who was living for the people who still loved her,the ones who have truly loved her.

Armaan and Mehak both had tears in their eyes. Armaan sat in her feet and asked her to give him a chance and he would prove to her that he wasn't that bad. Mehak stepped back and left with tears in her eyes.

She just sat in her car and then tried to forget about it all. The new driver started the car and took a different route.

They reached home but it took them 40 mins longer and by then a lot had changed. Mehak was then calm but the storm inside wasn't rather it became more dangerous.

She got out of the car and was just going towards her apartment when she met Shaurya. Even he was going to her place. Mehak asked him what he was doing there to which Shaurya replied that he was there to take her shopping so that she could have the most amazing dress for the party next day. He said he was shopping with the important ladies of his life and he had already got his Mom the dress and then it was her turn. Mehak looked at him with administration in her eyes and tried to suppress the sob that she thought would leave her mouth any minute with the water from her eyes. She hugged him, the first ever hug in their friendship that was initiated by her and said thank you for everything. Shaurya felt it to be really odd that she was being too emotional but he said nothing and hugged her back. He even gave a kiss on her forehead symbolising that he cares.

Mehak said that it had been very long since she wore something from her own collection and Shaurya said that she could always wear from her own collection when she is a bride but then it was his gift.

Shaurya took her to the most expensive designer boutique of Delhi and there she met Swati who once trained under her. She was happy that the girl reached such heights in just two years. Swati welcomed them both warmly and asked them about their preferences and what they had in mind. Shaurya spoke that the theme was Indian so they were looking for a saree and the colour he had in his mind was dark to accentuate her fair complexion.

Swati showed them beautiful sarees in wine, black, royal blue, brown, red and many more shades with the material different in each. Mehak was looking at Shaurya who was sitting there with utmost interest and enthusiasm in her shopping. Mehak had a certain longing in her eyes. She had understood something but she couldn't do anything about it et al.

Seeing Mehak's lack of enthusiasm, Shaurya pushed her to be a little lively like she had lately been and even happier and livelier because she was the date of Shaurya Khanna for the night. Mehak slapped him lightly on the shoulder for being all self obsessed again. She picked up three options and showed him. He said he didn't know and since everything would look good on her he couldn't even complement.

Mehak decided to try on. Swati bought the complementing blouses with each and they headed to the trial room. Mehak forgot her stick and she was still walking and that too perfectly well. Unknowingly a tear rolled down Shaurya's eyes seeing her on her feet independently without any stick. He wiped it off as soon as he realised that he was about to cry.

He waited patiently outside and after a good half an hour Mehak came out with Swati and her assistant with a bag packed. Shaurya looked at the package and made a pout complaining that he didn't get to see the final dress. Mehak said it wasn't a big deal and he would anyway see it in the party. Shaurya was even more excited for the party then.

He had some anxiety too but that was for a completely different reason. The bad guys were to be invited too because who's who of every industry was going to be there given their reputation and standard in the society and it was going to be a big party and something special too.

On the payment counter, Shaurya made Mehak realise that she walked the stairs without the stick and that she did amazing and she didn't need the stick any more. He then dropped her home because he understood that she wasn't in her true element for the day.

AT THE ACTUAL FUNCTION

There were people, who a common man had only seen in the newspapers. There was almost everyone from the Bollywood- big directors, producers, singers , actors ...in short it was As if the entire bollywood was in Delhi. The Ambani's were there too.

From the business field too there were people and surprisingly the medical field-famous hospital owners were there too because Shaurya along with his family was starting a new hospital for the underprivileged and hence the medical field experts.

Off course there was family too and Mehak.

Randhir was going to propose Sanyukta in that party infront of all media and Shaurya knew about it. Infact he was the one who convinced him for the same. Even he had something to say to Mehak but not exactly a proposal.

It was 7 in the evening when the party was supposed to start but according to the IST everyone was reaching according to their own convenience. It was around 8 that the hall looked lively enough to call it a party.

Everyone was there but he waited for someone special. Sanjay smirked looking at him and so did his wife and they both called him to be Majnu Khanna. He heard it but didn't say anything because that was the moment when entered Mehak along with her family and even Sanyukta.

Mehak wore a black lace saree  with a black sleeveless and backless blouse. She teamed the look with her hair curled in noodle hairstyle and with black dangling earrings.

Shaurya looked at her open mouthed. Vicky who was standing with him too looked open mouthed but not at Mehak but his sweetheart Nehal who wore a saree too.

 Her saree was yellow in colour with a wine shade one strapped velvet blouse and same colour border.

 Randhir was looking at them from a distance and he saw the reaction of the boys and went to them to tease them but then he saw Sanyukta.

 She was wearing a golden saree with a golden brown shade halter neck blouse. Randhir too gawked open mouthed. Aman came to them and stood there looking at the boys. He laughed and so did the girls. He told the boys to close their mouths and and then all had a good laugh. All the three girls were looking gorgeous but they felt that their girl was the most special and gorgeous. 

Each got together with their company for the night and entered. Aman found his company in his phone. He had no date and boy he hasn't been more disappointed ever. Jeevan and Kanta too joined the party and went to their business associates for a good chat.

Everyone was lost in their own little world and then there was the announcement by none other than Shah Rukh Khan himself who was hosting the party that the birthday girl was there. Harish and Karuna entered hand in hand in the party and Shah Rukh Khan announced their dance. They danced together on pehla Nasha. The party started in full swing after their performance. Everyone was having a gala time. Everyone was on the dance floor having a good time when the settings of the lights were changed. Randhir who was dancing with Sanyukta was then on the middle of the stage where he sat on his knee and popped the question and then gave her the ring post her acceptance. There was a crazy round of hooting and cheer. The hooting was still going strong when the spot light shifted from Randhir to Vicky. He was with Nehal then, Kanta Chachi almost fainted. She had a little inkling about the same, all credits to Aman who just can't keep a secret.

Vicky proposed her and she said yes. There was again crazy cheering. Mehak and Shaurya who weren't on the dance floor and were standing alone in the corner saw the proposals and were happy for their friends.

Mic was with Ranveer and he congratulated the new couples and said that he hoped that their wedding makes news next year. Nick Jonas and Priyanka cheered the loudest. Everyone looked at Salman that he should too have a news like this but that was another reason to laugh because Salman gave a witty reply about it all. The three Khan's, the Kapoor's and Akshay Kumar and family all were dancing and enjoying. The couples had meanwhile taken everyone's blessings. Kanta was happy for Nehal and Vicky.

The business men too moved their booties afterall page 3 parties were nothing new to them. 

In the corner Mehak who was standing with Shaurya looked visibly excited for both Sanyukta and Nehal. She was having her arm looped in Shaurya's arm and was even tapping along the beat of the music. 

A minute later the cake cutting was announced by Akshay and after that everyone went back to the stage. Ritesh and Akshay were ruling the stage. The Khan's were not far behind and the young brigade too was giving everyone a competition. With Shahid and Ranveer improving their friendship. The couples were busy in their own world and danced only with each other. Bebo and her girl gang with Sara and Saif too made a separate party of dancing.

It was then the time for the performance of Hardy Sandhu. The spot light shifted to him and a light was on Mehak and Shaurya. They were on a stage that was made on a certain height above the other stage. They first danced on Kya baat hai. Shaurya didn't let Mehak dance much on the floor. He did many lifts. There was whistling in the hall. Then Hardy completely switched the mood and sang Soch. They were slow dancing. That was the moment when even in the crowd Mehak felt as if she was alone in the moment with Shaurya. She kept her head on his chest while dancing. The song ended but the spot light was still on them.

 There were cheers for them too. Shaurya got down on a knee and said that it was not what she thought, he knew that they were mere friends but what he felt was more than friendship and he was asking for a chance to see if their relation was more than friendship & ,if it turns into love and one day culminate to marriage even. Mehak had genuine tears in her eyes. She wanted to say yes but she couldn't and then she said she wasn't over Armaan yet and stepped off the stage. The light was still on and Shaurya could see that he had killed the mood of the party. He didn't want to spoil it for anyone and said that maybe he said everything too soon.

He continued and said that as Shah Sir says that if the ending is not happy then it is not the end and movie is still incomplete so I guess my movie is incomplete. The lights dimmed again and music re started.

Shaurya gestured Vicky, Ajay, Nikki, Randhir, Nehal and Sanyukta to get the party back on track and left behind Mehak who hadn't reached much far.  He got out and saw her in the parking lot where she was with Armaan.
