Chapter-6

Shaurya entered Mehak's room sneakily and bolted the door making no noise at all. He then moved very close to the bed and removed the battery from the bell that helped the patient call the nurse in case of the emergencies.

He then touched her shoulder and her eyes jerked open by the foreign touch because she wasn't in deep sleep despite the pain killers they gave her. She was about to shout when Shaurya kept hand on her mouth and asked her to keep quiet because she surely didn't want to disturb the ICU patients as her room and the ICU were very close and she definitely didn't want to disturb the doctors in the OT just a few rooms away. Mehak signalled him to remove his hand from her mouth and then she won't shout. He did what he was signalled to. She tried to reach the bell but her fractured hand didn't help her much and then she saw the battery lying outside away from her. Shaurya watched her do it all. When Mehak understood that there was no way out she realized she had to talk.

Mehak asked him what brought him there. Shaurya laughed and looked at her with anger in his eyes and irritation on his face. He said to her that like she was brought there just because of her anger...he too was forced to come there just because of her bloody anger. He asked her what did she think of herself. A queen from a distant fantasy land that people would be so interested in that they would use her to gain fame, popularity or anything. He said Shaurya Khanna definitely didn't need publicity from her because he was famous enough to not even give her a second glance while she was dying and still get away with it

He clarified to her that for him she was nobody. A nobody because of whose anger three people almost lost their lives. He told her that he saw the child Neev and how serious he was just because somebody's ego thought that it was okay to go out in weather like what it was earlier in the day and then she thought it was completely fine to irk the driver too. He told her he met the driver too and got to know about the accident from him.

 Though the police was taken care of, who just came to ask about the accident and make note in their register, by her uncle  but  Shaurya added that he wanted her in jail for being so bloody stupid. 

He said that he understands that life on a wheelchair can be a pain in the ass both practically and otherwise too but she needed to understand that human life wasn't that unworthy and she should do something constructive rather than coming in other people's way unnecessarily and being involved in accidents on daily basis.

Mehak listened to him with a tough face without any expressions. When he was done with speaking, she asked whether he was done and if he was he shall leave after putting back the battery in the bell. Shaurya just got more frustrated and left from there without doing what she asked to. He left the door ajar.

He was still in the corridor when Nehal returned and asked him what was he doing there. He replied that he wanted to see if her friend was fine or was she again formulating a suicide plan again and left from there. Nehal entered the room and saw Mehak crying. She was sobbing making the minimal voice she could so that no one knows she was crying. Nehal entered and asked her what was wrong. She said nothing but kept on crying. Nehal understood that Shaurya said something to her which had hurt her like that because she had not cried infront of anyone in last two years especially after Armaan left her. 

She probed her a little bit and she told in bits and pieces how she shouldn't have risked everyone's life and how right Shaurya was to tell her that she was a nobody and nothing was about her. Mehak was getting hiccups continuously and was finding it difficult to calm down. Nehal called the nurse who made her wear the oxygen mask and gave her an injection to calm her down and get her some much needed sleep. She slept and Nehal to slept on the sofa bolting the door.

Next day Nehal got up first when Aunty Kanta came to the hospital with their breakfast. Nehal opened the door for her and then went to freshen up. Meanwhile Aunty Kanta sat with sleeping Mehak whose face showed the lines of stress along her forehead. Something which has become a part of her being over the last two years. Stress, tension and self hate was then what defined Mehak. Mehak who was once stress free and happy go lucky. Someone who just loved to live and lived everyday like it was her last and now she somehow wanted everyday to actually be her last. It broke Aunty Kanta's  heart always to see her in a condition like that. While she was thinking about all this and gently caressing her hair, Mehak woke up too. She said she was okay and there was no need to worry.

 Nehal too came out and tried to make the environment in the room a bit relaxed and said they could continue their mother daughter talks later because the actual daughter was hungry and needed food because love was all reserved for Mehak beti. They both laughed though not whole heartedly but they still did and they had their breakfast post Mehak too freshend up. Kanta fed both lovingly and then left. Mehak too was to be discharged the next day. Others were fine too but they had to stay in the hospital for a few more days to recover fully.

 Mehak was resting when the nurse came in with her phone in her hand and handed it to Mehak saying it was the same man whom Mehak called yesterday from her phone. He wanted to talk to her after he was told about the accident. 

Like a thousand memories flashed in front from her eyes. Before Nehal could say or do anything Mehak asked the nurse to disconnect the phone.
