Its YOU

She reeled back, unknowingly hitting the wall near the door

Her eyes brimming with tears

“WHY?” was the first q that popped out of her mouth 

He gently pulled out the most gorgeous princess cut diamond ring

She tried not to look at it

Hiding in the corner between the shut front door and the wall, she was literally shaking

He gently held her arms by the elbows and pulled her forward, she resisted

“Don’t u have a NY party to be at?”

“I am…. At” he laughed

“Why?”

“Because…. Ive been waiting for this day for a while” he whispered looking into her eyes

“How long could u have waited we just met”

“We met 10, sorry almost 11 years ago, March 20”

“Engagement is a big step, I am already engaged” she lied looking at his shirt button

“Whos the guy?” he whispered

There was no one… they both knew

“Are u doing this for Dhru?”

“I am doing this for us”

She looked into his eyes trying to figure him out

“U never told me” she accused

“Being proposed? U know… the surprise element?” he laughed

“But”

He loosened her fist and placed the sparkling ring in the center, her fingers trembled

“U don’t have to marry me”

“Oh but I do” he nodded softly

“Its Jai’s birthday…”

“Yeah I know” he nodded

“I  didn’t expect u here tonight”

“Its NY’s eve Mrunalini” he said quietly

“NY’s now”

“Happy NY” he smiled knowingly

She nodded

“Wish me”

“thanks”

“Yes?” he whispered

“Do ur parents know?”

“Umm… my Mum? She knows… umm.. a hint I would say”

“Not ur Dad?” she was horrified

“Not yet” he tried unsuccessfully to hide his fear

“Oh no…” she panicked

“I am going to do it”

She reached for his hand

To return the ring

“I spent almost a month looking for u when I returned to Mumbai and was interviewing” he said quietly

“WHY?” she panicked

“I wanted to see u”

“For Dhru?”

“U still don’t get it do u?” he smiled gently

“About what?”

“There is life beyond Jaidrith Mrunalini…. Open ur eyes” he growled

“No… not for me…. U are saying this because u want me to fall for it”

He laughed hysterically his eyes filling up with tears

“U are confusing me” she panicked

“I was hoping to see you ONE time” he said wistfully looking into those big pools of blue

“I don’t even remember u” she lied

“Of course” he muttered mischievously

“Umm.. I don’t believe u….”

“U hid well remember? I had no idea  he is mine or that he even existed until u returned dishes at mendy’s?”

“Oh” she lowered her gaze

“I cannot think of any more reasons to be happy…. I have two”

“Dhru” she nodded “Ur parents?”

“YOU Mrunalini”

She was strong and capable in most ways but extremely vulnerable in some, her shy diffidence shrouded a fragile self esteem he noticed, for a soft creature she had the resistance of an army tank he noticed with amusement

His smile sent her heart beat soaring, her legs had no strength, the oxygen supply depleting from the room, blood roared to her ears, he was not stalking her yet she felt like a prey

She knew, she would not hold back if he touched her.

“Its been driving me insane to pretend I don’t feel these things for u Mrunalini”

He gently leaned forward and put his mouth to hers a chaste polite peck that was warm and sweet

She shuddered… he gently let his fingers trickle up her torso to cup her curve

She gasped and plunged cleverly into the unguarded territory of her mouth, filling her with the fiery taste of his tongue, both feeding her and consuming off her, as his mouth moved on hers, his palm rotated on her curve rhythmically, with languorous strokes, injecting needles of pleasure ripping her body

“I am frustrated  Mrunalini… I am begging u to put me out of my misery…. Marry me” he whispered when he finally released her lips
