When Karan Patel RULED TV: A look back at his ICONIC roles fans still miss

Robbie Sabarwal, Kasturi:

Made a debut on television with Sakshi Tanwar's 'Kahanii Ghar Ghar Ki,' Karan then went ahead to bag a few roles in popular Balaji Telefilms' shows including 'Kasamh Se,' and 'Kasauti Zindagi Kay.' Eventually, Patel bagged his first lead role in Star Plus' Kasturi, opposite Shubhangi Atre. The show went ahead to be massively successful and his character Robbie Sabarwal became an iconic one. Karan's chemistry with Shubhangi too was widely loved.

Raman Kumar Bhalla, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein:

Before finally landing his second iconic lead role, Karan was seen hosting 'Kaho Na Yaar Hai,' and also participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. In 2013, Patel then landed Ekta Kapoor's Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, which earned him massive stardom overnight. Karan essayed the character of Raman Kumar Bhalla, a punjabi 'divorced' man who gets married to a South Indian woman Ishita, played by Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya.

Before finally landing his second iconic lead role, Karan was seen hosting 'Kaho Na Yaar Hai,' and also participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. In 2013, Patel then landed Ekta Kapoor's Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, which earned him massive stardom overnight. Karan essayed the character of Raman Kumar Bhalla, a punjabi 'divorced' man who gets married to a South Indian woman Ishita, played by Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya. Not just Karan's character and the show itself, but his chemistry with Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya remains one of the most loved pairings on television even today. Reports also suggested that the two have been roped in for an upcoming Ekta Kapoor show too. However, looks like fans of the onscreen couple will have to wait a tad bit longer. Karan had also quit Yeh Hai Mohabbatein in July 2019, however, the actor re entered the show in November 2019 later on.

Mr.Bajaj, Kasauti Zindagi Kay 2:

After his stint on Yeh Hai Mohabbatein coming to an end, the actor then replaced Karan Singh Grover as Mr. Bajaj on the sequel of Ekta Kapoor's Kasauti Zindagi Kay 2. However, the show did not receive that well of a response.

Khatron Ke Khiladi 10:

Karan then appeared on Khatron Ke Khiladi too and emerged as one of the strongest contestants. His participation on the show made his fans eager to see him on Bigg Boss someday. However, Karan has time and again rejected the possibility of the same and has stated that the show is 'not for him.'

On not getting work:

For those who do not know, Karan recently opened up on not getting a single offer in the past 6 years in a conversation with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiya on their podcast and revealed that he has been out of work for the longest time now. ''I have not gotten a single daily soap offered in the last 6 years. Now, every day, around 150-200 new actors are being born. They will work on a show at 10 percent of the amount we would charge,'' Karan said. He further reveals how makers today think of making '2 web shows' instead of investing in one daily soap and said ''There was a point where there was a lot of money in TV. But today, makers think that rather than making one show, they can make two web series in the same budget. But what about the quality?''

This is not the first time that the actor has opened up on being out of work. Karan has earlier too opened up on the same and took to his Instagram handle to request for work from producers.

Apart from the above mentioned TV shows, Karan has also been a part of films like 'Shootout at Wadala, Raktaanchal, City of Gold and more. The actor also appeared as the male lead in his film 'Darran Choo,' which was co produced by his wife Ankita Bhargava and directed by Bharat Ratan.
