When Indraneil Sengupta REFUSED to call his marriage with Barkha Bisht FAILURE: 'Independent thinking women..'

Barkha Bisht's recent interaction with Siddharth Kanan, where the actress has finally broken silence on her divorce with ex husband Indraneil Sengupta and has accused him of cheating and 'choosing to move out' of the marriage, has taken the internet by storm. The couple who stayed together for 15 years, parted ways 4 years ago. Well, a few days before Barkha's recent explosive interview, Indraneil Sengupta had also reacted to his divorce with the actress and had stated that his marriage was not a 'failure.'

In a conversation with Sanghmitra Hitashi, for her podcast, 'The real story,' Sengupta, was asked if his marriage with Barkha Bisht falling apart had brought in the changes in him he earlier spoke about in the conversation. Reacting to the same, the actor stated that he had gone through a lot of 'positive changes,' even though the incident was negative. He says, ''It happened simultaneously. I won't say it was triggered by that but something really wrong in my life, something that was really wrong in the public eye and it was right there for everyone to see. So to come to terms with it and to embrace it, made me realise the reality of life in general. Something I thought could never happen to me, something I thought that I was untouched with things like that, that illusion broke, which is very liberating also.''

''It has shaped up my life in a lot of positive ways. The incident was very negative but the impact was a positive one in terms of my personality development,'' Indraneil further adds.

When asked if two actors cannot get along well when in a relationship, Indraneil, refusing, says, ''No I do not agree with the notion that a marriage between two actors cannot work out. Even my marriage, if someone says that it did not workout, I will say, 'it has.' It ran for 13 years, it did not go forever, but why is the idea of a relationship 'forever only?' Who has said it is forever? It's great if it is forever but it might not be. Have there been good years? Yes. Have there been good moments? Yes. Have there been bad moments? Yes.''

''Also what happens is, two people together also have their individual journeys. If their individual journeys is also their together journey, it works out. No one is wrong, even personalities change. Both of us were very different people and we knew this from day one but as the years passed, we became more of ourselves,'' the actor then adds.

Even my marriage, if someone says that it did not workout, I will say, 'it has.' It ran for 13 years, it did not go forever, but why is the idea of a relationship 'forever only?' Who has said it is forever? It's great if it is forever but it might not be.

Indraneil further states that he idea of 'forever' should not be a compulsion. ''It should not be a compulsion. Secondly, people will always give you examples of the past generation that humare maa baap ki toh 50 saal-60 saal. The relationships in the past were based on dependency. All things lasted because there was dependency. One person was totally dependent on the other person. Even in those times, very independent thinking women who were doing a little bit of some work also had failed marriages in the past generations. Dependency kept the marriage going on, that cannot be the example,'' the 1920 fame adds.
