When Amitabh and Rajinikanth can work, why can't we?, Sharmila Tagore

Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore has been one of the most iconic beauties from Bollywood. The 71 years old actress has expressed her concern towards women empowerment in film industry. She feels that women must be provided with good roles in the films.

During a recent media interaction at Times Literature Festival, she said that, "When Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth can work, why can't we? She also said that, when someone asked me what is your wish and I said that a few roles should be written for figures like Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi and Waheeda Rehman.". (sic)

The actress was asked to share her views on the degrading presentation of women in cinema and other social evil against them. She said, "It is so easy to blame the image because the image is paramount. It is always larger than life and you are always creating the image. I don't think that cinema is bigger than family as an institution. So you have to see what is happening in the society and try and understand and change that mindset." (sic)
