Vivek Oberoi opens up about surviving Bollywood's 'Trial by Fire' and reflects on the dark side of B-town

In recent times, there have been discussions and revelations about the dark side of Bollywood. It started with our desi girl Priyanka Chopra when she spoke about the prevalent issues in the industry in her book 'Unfinished'. She talked about the gender disparity, the prevalent nepotism, and the toxic work environment that exists in Bollywood. 

Well now Vivek Oberoi, recalled his infamous press conference that he did 20 years ago and spoke about his journey since then.

Vivek Oberoi had called a press conference in 2003, where he had accused his ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai's former beau, Salman Khan, of threatening to kill him. Vivek had also alleged that Salman had called him 41 times in one night and had abused him. This press conference had caused a major stir in Bollywood, and Vivek's career had taken a nosedive after that.

In his recent interview with a news portal, Vivek expressed his relief that he had emerged from the controversy. He talked about the "trial by fire" that he had gone through and how he had survived it. However, he also acknowledged that not everyone is lucky enough to come out of such situations unscathed.

Vivek also spoke about the unnecessary stuff that he had gone through after the press conference. He mentioned the lobbying and the repressive stories that were circulated about him. He also acknowledged that this is a hallmark of the industry and has been one of the dark sides of Bollywood. He mentioned that Priyanka Chopra had also alluded to these issues in her book.

The actor continued, saying that he is aware of how frustrating it is and how it can leave one feeling drained and fatigued. Vivek remembered spending 14 months at home doing nothing after giving a critically acclaimed and financially successful performance in "Shoot Out At Lokhandwala." 

Vivek continued by saying that finding a new space is inspired by Priyanka's most recent remark. He claimed that after she ventured out and tried something new to break out of a rut, both personally and professionally, something miraculous transpired.
