The IPL 2023 match at the Ekana Stadium on Monday between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) saw an intense rivalry between the mentor of LSG, Gautam Gambhir, and RCB skipper Virat Kohli which was a continuation of Kohli's antics post his exchange of words and aggression with LSG players, Kyle Mayers and Naveen-Ul-Haq. The rivalry between Gambhir and Kohli dates back to the 2013 IPL tournament during a match between RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders.
During last month's match between RCB and LSG, Gambhir broke into a wild celebration after LSG's win and had an intense handshake with Kohli while silencing the crowd with a finger on his lips.
On Monday, after Kohli took the catch to send Krunal Pandya back to the pavilion, he celebrated with a flying kiss to the crowd, followed by a pat on his chest and then a recreation of Gambhir's celebration with a twist. He put his finger on his lips and signalled the crowd not to keep quiet and keep cheering.
Well, now Virat Kohli has taken to his social media account and shared a cryptic post: "Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth."
Not only this but LSG batsman Naveen ul Haq Murid too took to his Instagram account and wrote, " You get what you deserve that's how it should be and that's how it goes"
For the unversed, after RCB's 18-run victory, Kohli and Gambhir engaged in an ugly spat before their teammates interfered. Kohli had an awkward handshake with Kyle Mayers and an aggressive one with Naveen-Ul-Haq. Following this, when LSG player Kyle Mayers approached Kohli for a chat, Gambhir interrupted and took him away. There was an exchange of more words and comments being thrown at each other between them.
The video footage of the incident has gone viral. Although, LSG captain KL Rahul managed to keep Gambhir away for some time, the two cricketers eventually had a heated exchange in the presence of their team members.
The intense rivalry between Gambhir and Kohli has been a talking point since the 2013 IPL tournament, and Monday's spat only added fuel to the fire. The incident has sparked a debate among cricket fans, and many have criticized both cricketers for their behaviour on the field.
