In a recent interview, the actor shared that the commercial success and recognition from the industry meant a lot to him as he had been yearning for it for quite some time. Massey also mentioned observing how individuals in the industry alter their behavior based on success and failure, leading him not to dwell too much on either outcome.
During a candid chat with SCREEN, Vikrant Massey talked about how the success of 12th Fail influenced him and his attitude towards success and failure. The actor, who portrayed a pivotal role in 12th Fail, highlighted that the movie gave him substantial recognition from the industry as he aimed to break free from the label of an unconventional actor.
He shared, “Validation from the industry has come in, and I was longing for it. I always backed myself and continue to do so, but it was very important for me; deep within me, I had this urge to be validated by more people and not just be labeled an alternate actor. 12th Fail’s commercial success was important to me.”
Massey shared that his success in 12th Fail has brought new work his way, making him happy. He mentioned filmmakers wanting to work with him, which he eagerly anticipated. Despite knowing the industry's fickleness, he stays focused on delivering consistent performances.
When questioned about handling big successes or failures in his career, the Gaslight actor disclosed that he tackles both scenarios similarly by not giving them too much attention. “Everything is so temporary in life. I have seen people change, like the weather in success and failure. I move on very quickly and don’t sit with either for too long. The same things can change equally fast the moment you trip again and are back to where you began,” Vikrant shared.
Massey also spilled the beans that he's made a conscious effort to steer clear of being pigeonholed in the industry, a common occurrence. He's aimed to break free from the typical boy-next-door roles in movies and opted for projects that let him display his range. The actor highlighted that this was a pivotal factor in his decision to take on films like 12th Fail and Sector 36 in the same year. Finally, he expressed his appreciation for the opportunities that came his way.
