Vikram Bhatt’s Ghost is inspired from the spooky Real life ‘Devil Made Me Do It’ case

Renowned filmmaker, Vikram Bhatt, who is best known for his spooky films is back with yet another spine chilling story to tell. The Raaz director is all set to scare you with his upcoming film titled as Ghost. Interestingly, the horror thriller is inspired by a real-life case.

Vikram Bhatt revealed that Ghost, the film is inspired by the trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson which is also infamously known as the Devil Made Me Do It case, reported Koimoi.

He stated that as a filmmaker he is always on the hunt for stories that are distinct and far from the average plotlines. He adds how the 1981 case wherein Arne Cheyenne Johnson was convicted of first-degree manslaughter for killing his landlord, Alan Bono grabbed his eyeballs and inspired him to make this film. 

“I’ve always looked for stories that are interesting and different. I came across this case where a person was convicted of first-degree manslaughter for killing his landlord in the US in 1981. Later, he pleaded not guilty saying the devil made him do it. That is something that caught my attention,” Bhatt said.

Vikram further adds that this kind of a never-seen-before event made him research and work on this story and eventually direct Ghost. He claims that the film will bring fiction and reality together.

“It was something unusual and not heard before. Never in the history of law and order had anybody heard something like this which is why I decided to work on a story inspired by this event. We have put in a lot of effort and research to create a proper backstory for ‘Ghost’. It will surely bring fiction and reality together”, quoted the report as Vikram saying.

Featuring Sanaya Irani and Shivam Bhaargava in the lead roles, Ghost is the story of a politician who is tried in the court for murdering his wife. He claims that the murder was not committed by him but it was the doing of a spirit that compelled him into the heinous crime.

The spooky horror film is slated to release on October 18, 2019.
