Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava becomes the first blockbuster of Bollywood since THIS film in 2024

Bollywood was facing a slump since November 2024, with a dry spell that stretched for more than two months. This changed with the release of Chhaava, which brought new energy to the big screens. The box office had been rather subdued in Hindi markets during this period. Before Chhaava, the last major hit was Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which had set the standard for success in the industry.

Chhaava is making waves at the box office since its release. This historical action film stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role as the Maratha king, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, the movie highlights his intense rivalry with Aurangzeb, played by Akshaye Khanna. It has truly hit the ground running at the box office, raking in nearly Rs 130 crore in just four days.

Chhaava has made its mark as the first super-hit film in Bollywood since Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The historical action movie featuring Vicky Kaushal crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within just three days of its release. This milestone was previously achieved by Kartik Aaryan's horror comedy in November last year.

While Singham Again also entered the Rs 100 crore club during its opening weekend, it was classified as a semi-hit. Between November 2024 and the second week of February 2025, around 11 new Bollywood releases came out, but none managed to become super-hits in that crowded market.

Films like The Sabarmati Report, Vanvaas, Naam, I Want To Talk, and Baby John were released from November to December 2024, while January 2025 saw the release of Fateh, Azaad, Emergency, Sky Force, and Deva. In February, Badass Ravi Kumar and Loveyapa hit the screens.

Interestingly, Sky Force, Badass Ravi Kumar, and Loveyapa are still showing in theaters, and audiences are eagerly awaiting their verdicts.
