Vicky Kaushal's candid revelation: How he landed his Dunki cameo role

Vicky Kaushal's brief appearance in the film Dunki has left a lasting impression on audiences. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles, Dunki showcased Vicky's versatility in a cameo role.

In an interview with The Week Magazine, Vicky shared his experience of landing the role and working with Hirani once again after Sanju. Recounting how he pursued the part, Vicky revealed, "I told Raju sir (director Rajkumar Hirani) that even if he had wanted me to simply pass by unnoticed, I would happily do that as well." Vicky's keen interest in the character led him to approach Hirani directly, expressing his willingness to take on the role.

Reflecting on the portrayal of Punjab in the film, Vicky expressed his admiration for the vibrant depiction of the state. He remarked, "I was happy to see Punjab like that after a long time... He actually gave a vibrant, colourful charm to Punjab." Vicky particularly highlighted a poignant moment in the film where Taapsee's character reconnects with her roots, symbolizing nostalgia and love for her homeland.

Dunki, described as a saga of friendships, cross-border journeys, and the longing for home, was presented by Jio Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Rajkumar Hirani Films. The film initially premiered in cinemas worldwide on December 21, 2023, before making its OTT debut on Netflix on Valentine's Day this year.
