Mumbai, Aug 12 (IANS) It wasn't easy going from the madness of Sajid Khan's 'Heyy Babyy' to the mystique of Priyadarshan's 'Bhool Bhulaiya', but for versatile Vidya Balan it was a challenge she loved.
Shooting for the two back-to-back films required her to move from one area to another.
What's more, she finally got to do buddy Sajid Khan's fun film.
She brightens up at his mention. 'I've known Sajid from college. I remember inviting him for Malhar, St Xavier's festival. I've known him since then. He's such a livewire we all ended up behaving like mad people on the sets,' Vidya told IANS.
In contrast there's Priyadarshan. 'His clarity of thought is unbelievable. He's a man of few words. And he calls a spade a spade. Initially I was very scared of him. But then I saw him bantering with Paresh Rawal. And I realised he's a fun person. All of us would be laughing and behaving as though we were doing a light film together in Jaipur.'
Vidya feels 'Heyy Babyy' will show her in a new light. 'I've never done a film where I could let my hair down. I'd say it's a step forward for me. I mean, I did enjoy being the serious thinking actress in 'Parineeta' and the social crusader, the investigative journalist in 'Salaam-e-Ishq' and the socially aware radio jockey in 'Lage Raho...'.'
But somewhere deep down, Vidya was getting somewhat alarmed by her cerebral image.
'I'm a fun-loving girl who cracks and laughs at jokes with equal enthusiasm. Sajid Khan's 'Heyy Babyy' is a first of its kind for me. So far I hadn't done an out-and-out commercial film. It's a fun film. It has all the elements of a mainstream Hindi film.
'...and am I the baby of the title? I won't give away that suspense? Jokes aside, 'Heyy Babyy' was in direct contrast to Priyadarshan's 'Bhool Bhulaiya' which I shot right after.'
It's a very different Akshay Kumar she co-stars with in both. 'We are in such different terrain in 'Heyy Babyy' and 'Bhool Bhulaiya' and yet we had so much fun doing both films.'ALSO READ: 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' teaser confirmed to release on Republic Day 2024; more details inside
